Winchester XPR Sporter .300 WSM - 535709255
- Caliber-Gauge:
- 300 Winchester Short Magnum
The Winchester XPR Sporter in .300 WSM is a short-action hunting rifle built for shooters who demand accuracy and reliability in the field. This is serious rifle engineering at a practical price point—a fast-handling, no-nonsense platform that works equally well from a bench, a hunting stand, or a backcountry pack. The .300 WSM cartridge delivers magnum-class energy in a short-action package, making the XPR a natural choice for hunters pursuing medium to large game at extended range without the bulk and recoil of a full-length magnum.
Winchester engineered the XPR with measurable accuracy in mind. The action is machined from solid steel bar stock and heat-treated for strength and consistency. The barrel—button-rifled, free-floating, and thermally stress-relieved—is precisely headspaced and locked via a barrel nut, then crowned with a recessed target crown to shield the rifling from impact. A steel recoil lug is inletted into the stock to anchor the receiver and prevent torsional flex under recoil, the kind of detail that matters when you're shooting across a canyon at a trophy.
The trigger breaks clean with Winchester's M.O.A. system—no take-up, no creep, no overtravel. The detachable polymer magazine holds three rounds and is designed to feed reliably in the field. Handling is intuitive: a two-position thumb safety doubles as a cocking indicator, and a bolt-unlock button lets you unload the chamber with the safety engaged. The stock is Grade I walnut with crisp checkering, a flattened fore-end for bench stability, and an Inflex recoil pad that shunts energy downward and away from your cheek. Metal surfaces wear a matte black Perma-Cote finish that kills glare and resists corrosion. At 7 pounds with a 24-inch barrel and 44 inches overall, the XPR balances shootability and portability.
This is a hunter's rifle—not built for hype, built for hits.

What is the .300 WSM and what game can I hunt with the XPR?
The .300 Winchester Short Magnum (.300 WSM) is a high-velocity, short-action cartridge that delivers magnum-class performance in a compact platform. It's effective for elk, mule deer, whitetail, and other medium to large game at extended range. The short action makes the rifle lighter and faster-handling than full-length magnum alternatives.
Does the XPR come with a scope or mounts?
The specifications provided do not include information about factory-installed scope mounts or optics. Contact us for details on what ships with this rifle.
How much does the XPR weigh, and is it easy to carry?
The XPR Sporter weighs 7 pounds with a 24-inch barrel and 44-inch overall length, making it a practical rifle for both vehicle-based hunting and longer hikes into the backcountry. The short-action profile keeps it relatively compact and maneuverable in dense brush.
Can I unload the rifle with the safety on?
Yes. The bolt-unlock button allows you to unload the chamber while the thumb safety is in the on-safe position, a convenient safety feature when you need to clear the rifle quickly without disengaging the safety.
