The Winchester XPR Sporter in .300 Win Mag is a long-action rifle built for hunters who demand accuracy and reliability in a package that handles the recoil and power of a magnum cartridge. This is a no-compromise hunting rifle engineered around Winchester's reputation for precision manufacturing—a solid choice if you're chasing elk, moose, or long-range game where the .300 Win Mag excels.
The foundation here is a receiver machined from solid steel bar stock and hardened through controlled heat treatment, paired with a button-rifled barrel that's thermally stress-relieved before assembly. That attention to metallurgy pays off downrange: the free-floated barrel, recessed target crown, and steel recoil lug inletted into the stock all work together to minimize variables that throw off accuracy. The M.O.A. trigger system delivers zero take-up, zero creep, and zero overtravel—the kind of clean break that matters when you're making a shot that counts.
Built for field hunting, not just the bench. The Grade I walnut stock features a flattened fore-end profile that locks in solidly on a rest or sandbag, while the Inflex recoil pad redirects energy down and away from your face—meaningful when you're shooting a magnum all day. Perma-Cote matte black finishes the metal surfaces, killing glare and guarding against corrosion in wet conditions. The detachable polymer box magazine runs a single-stack design for dependable feeding, and the two-position thumb safety with cocking indicator lets you confirm your safety status by sight or touch. A bolt unlock button even lets you unload the chamber with the safety on—a practical touch for safe handling.
At 7 lbs 4 oz and 46.5 inches overall, the XPR Sporter balances portability with stability. The 26-inch barrel gives you the velocity potential of the .300 Win Mag without an unwieldy platform, and the 13.75-inch length of pull fits most adult hunters comfortably.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the Winchester XPR Sporter a good choice for long-range hunting?
The XPR Sporter combines a precision-manufactured steel receiver, free-floated barrel, and M.O.A. trigger system to deliver the consistency and accuracy needed for extended-range shots. The .300 Win Mag chambering gives you the velocity and energy to reach out effectively, and the steel recoil lug prevents receiver twist that would degrade accuracy over time.
Is the .300 Win Mag suitable for elk and moose hunting?
Yes. The .300 Win Mag is a proven magnum cartridge for large game like elk and moose, delivering the power and range required for ethical, effective hunting of those species. The XPR Sporter's controlled design and solid construction are built to handle the recoil and demand of magnum hunting.
What is included with the rifle?
The Winchester XPR Sporter comes with the rifle and a detachable polymer box magazine (3-round capacity). Any optics or additional accessories are sold separately.
Is the Inflex recoil pad really effective with a magnum?
The Inflex recoil pad is designed to direct energy down and away from your face and shoulder, which helps reduce the perceived and felt recoil impulse when shooting a powerful cartridge like the .300 Win Mag. Combined with the rifle's overall weight and balance, it makes a significant difference in handling recoil over a day of shooting.
