The Winchester XPR Scope Combo in .300 WSM is a ready-to-hunt bolt-action rifle that arrives from the factory mounted with a Vortex Crossfire II 3-9x40 scope—no gunsmith visit required. Built on a short-action platform with a 24-inch precision button-rifled barrel, the XPR delivers the velocity and accuracy hunters expect from a .300 WSM without the weight penalty of a magnum-length receiver. At 7 pounds, it's built to stay shouldered all day in the field, whether you're glassing ridge lines or making the move through timber.

Winchester engineered the XPR around shooter comfort and reliability. The M.O.A. Trigger System breaks cleanly, the two-position thumb safety keeps the rifle ready but secure, and the composite stock is tough enough for hard use without the maintenance demands of wood. The free-floating barrel—a genuine accuracy advantage—sits clear of the stock, letting the rifle shoot its best without harmonic interference. Weaver-style scope rings and bases come already installed, and the rifle arrives drilled and tapped for additional mounts if you ever want to swap optics. The included Inflex Technology recoil pad soaks up the .300 WSM's kick, and sling swivel studs are ready for your favorite carry setup.

The scope pairing matters here: the Vortex Crossfire II 3-9x40 with BDC reticle is a sensible choice for a .300 WSM hunting rifle. The BDC subtensions are calibrated to popular .300 WSM loads, so you can dial or hold for longer shots without guessing. The Vortex VIP warranty backs the glass for its lifetime, giving you confidence in the complete package.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Winchester XPR .300 WSM come with a scope mounted?

Yes. The rifle ships with a Vortex Crossfire II 3-9x40 scope with BDC reticle already mounted in Weaver rings and bases. The scope is covered by Vortex's VIP lifetime warranty.

Is the .300 WSM a good hunting cartridge for long-range shooting?

The .300 WSM is a versatile, efficient magnum cartridge suited to medium and longer-range hunting. The 24-inch barrel in this XPR gives you solid velocity from this round, and the free-floating barrel is designed to shoot accurately. The included BDC reticle on the scope is calibrated to work with common .300 WSM loads, helping you engage targets at extended distances.

Can I swap the scope or add different mounts?

Absolutely. The receiver is drilled and tapped for Weaver-style scope bases, so you can remove the included rings and bases and mount an optic of your choice. The factory mounts give you a starting point, but you're not locked into the Vortex scope.

What does the free-floating barrel mean for accuracy?

A free-floating barrel doesn't touch the stock along its length, which eliminates the inconsistency caused by stock pressure on the barrel. This results in more consistent shot-to-shot performance and tighter groups—a genuine accuracy advantage, especially at distance.
