The Winchester XPR .300 WSM is a lightweight bolt-action rifle built for hunters who demand accuracy and reliability in the field without lugging excess weight. Chambered in the hard-hitting .300 WSM cartridge, this rifle delivers the terminal performance that has made Winchester a household name among North American hunters for over a century. The XPR's no-frills design and synthetic furniture make it equally at home in wet conditions, tight brush, or open country—it's the kind of gun you grab when the conditions are nasty and precision matters.

The 24-inch barrel strikes a practical balance between velocity and maneuverability, while the 1:10 twist rate stabilizes the full range of .300 WSM loads commonly used for deer, elk, and other medium to large game. At 44 inches overall, the rifle remains compact enough to carry through timber yet long enough to deliver the ballistics this cartridge is known for. The matte blue finish resists glare and corrosion without drawing attention, and the black synthetic stock shrugs off the elements—no babying required.

Winchester engineered the XPR around the idea that a serious hunting rifle shouldn't require a trust fund. The three-round magazine capacity is standard for magnum bolt guns and keeps the profile lean. Whether you're hunting from a blind, a saddle, or glassing from a ridge, the XPR delivers the accuracy and stopping power you need without unnecessary complexity or weight.

Frequently Asked Questions

What game is the .300 WSM good for?

The .300 Winchester Short Magnum is a versatile cartridge for deer, elk, moose, and other large game. It delivers magnum-class power and velocity in a compact package, making it ideal for hunters who want serious stopping power without a full-length magnum action.

Is the Winchester XPR .300 WSM suitable for long-range hunting?

With a 24-inch barrel and 1:10 twist, the XPR is well-suited to the ballistic characteristics of the .300 WSM cartridge. Accuracy and range capability depend on the specific ammunition you choose and your skill, but the rifle's design supports precise shooting at hunting distances.
