The Taurus 942M .22 WMR revolver is a compact 8-shot wheelgun built for shooters who want a lightweight, low-recoil handgun for plinking, target work, and everyday carry. With its 3-inch barrel and small frame, the 942M delivers manageable recoil and points naturally in the hand—making it an excellent choice for training fundamentals, recreational shooting, or as a backup piece that won't tire you out after a long session at the range.
Built around a double-action/single-action operating system with a transfer bar safety, the 942M handles like a traditional revolver but with modern safety features. The matte stainless finish resists corrosion and wears like iron, while the serrated front ramp and drift-adjustable rear sight give you solid, no-nonsense aiming tools. At just 25 ounces, this revolver won't weigh down your waistband or pack, and the 22 WMR cartridge packs enough velocity and energy for small game and target duty without creating a lot of report in sensitive shooting areas.
If you're building a .22 rimfire battery and need a revolver that's simple, reliable, and fun to shoot, the 942M bridges the gap between a cheap plinker and a serious training tool. Its eight-round capacity, compact proportions, and classic revolver ergonomics make it at home in a hunting pack, a bedside drawer, or an ankle holster.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Taurus 942M good for concealed carry?
Yes. At 25 ounces with a 3-inch barrel and small frame, the 942M is compact and lightweight enough for waistband or ankle carry without printing or causing fatigue. Its .22 WMR chambering also means mild recoil and modest muzzle rise, making it manageable in quick-draw scenarios or training.
Can I use this revolver for hunting?
The 942M is suitable for small game at reasonable distances. The .22 WMR round has enough velocity and energy for varmints and light hunting roles, and the three-inch barrel provides adequate sight radius for accurate shot placement at typical hunting ranges.
What's the difference between double-action and single-action fire on this revolver?
In double-action mode, squeezing the trigger rotates the cylinder and fires the round in one motion—ideal for defensive or quick work. Single-action mode (after you manually cock the hammer or fire one DA shot) gives you a shorter, lighter trigger pull for precise target shooting or hunting.
Are the sights adjustable?
The rear sight is drift-adjustable for windage correction. The front sight is a serrated ramp. These are basic, fixed-height sights designed for reliable aiming without the complexity of target-grade adjustments.
