The Taurus 942M is a lightweight 22 WMR revolver built for shooters who want a nimble, affordable handgun for plinking, range work, or casual carry. At just 18.8 ounces, this compact revolver won't weigh you down, and its 3-inch barrel strikes a balance between handling ease and sight radius. The 8-round cylinder in stainless steel gives you enough capacity for a fun day at the range without the bulk of a larger frame. Whether you're introducing someone to shooting or rounding out your collection with a no-fuss .22 magnum, the 942M delivers straightforward revolver reliability in a small package.
The aluminum frame is anodized stainless for corrosion resistance, while the matte stainless barrel keeps the gun's profile low-key. You get an exposed hammer for single-action precision and a transfer bar safety so the gun won't fire if dropped. The ramp front sight and adjustable rear sight let you dial in your zero, and the black finger-grooved polymer grip provides a secure hold even in less-than-ideal conditions.
At 6.6 inches overall, the 942M is genuinely pocketable and won't overwhelm smaller hands. The Ultra-Lite design makes it easy to carry or stash without fatigue, making it a sensible choice if you want a lightweight defensive revolver or a reliable trail gun that won't demand much from a pack or holster.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Taurus 942M suitable for concealed carry?
Yes. At 18.8 ounces and 6.6 inches overall, the 942M is compact and light enough for pocket or ankle carry, depending on your preference and local laws. The small frame fits most hands comfortably and doesn't create a large printing signature under clothing.
Can I adjust the sights on this revolver?
Yes. The 942M includes an adjustable rear sight paired with a ramp front sight, so you can zero the gun to your load and shooting style without replacing sights.
What safety features does the 942M have?
The revolver is equipped with a transfer bar safety that prevents the hammer from contacting the firing pin unless the trigger is fully pressed. This design protects against accidental discharge if the gun is dropped or the hammer is struck.
Why choose 22 WMR over standard 22 LR?
22 WMR offers higher velocity and more energy than 22 LR from the same barrel length, making it better suited for hunting small game or defensive use while remaining mild-recoiling, affordable to shoot, and forgiving for newer or recoil-sensitive shooters.
