The Remington 783 .270 Winchester is a modern bolt-action rifle built for hunters who want genuine accuracy without the premium price tag. This 22-inch barreled rifle combines Remington's five decades of bolt-action engineering with a ground-up design focused on tight, repeatable groups. Whether you're glassing a ridge for mule deer or setting up on a food source, the 783 delivers the consistency that turns opportunity into venison.

The key to the 783's accuracy lives in three places: a precision button-rifled barrel that comes from the factory already stress-relieved and ready to shoot, a black synthetic stock engineered with dual pillar bedding that free-floats the barrel for shot-to-shot consistency, and the crisp CrossFire trigger system that you can adjust to your preference. The high-nylon-fiber stock isn't just light—it's rigid enough to eliminate the flex and vibration that ruins groups. At 7.5 pounds, the 783 carries well in rough country without sacrificing the heft you need for stable shooting off a pack or rest.

The detachable four-round steel magazine makes reloading in the field straightforward, and the matte blue barrel paired with the matte black stock will stay put in your truck bed or pack without drawing attention. Length of pull runs 13 3/8 inches, built for most shooters in standard clothing. If you want to get into long-range hunting or simply shoot groups tight enough to matter, the 783 gives you the platform to do it without remortgaging your truck payment.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the best use for a Remington 783 in .270?

The .270 Winchester is a proven all-around cartridge for hunting deer, elk, and other medium to large game across a variety of ranges and terrain. The 783's accuracy-focused design and adjustable trigger make it equally at home on a long-range target day as it is in the field.

Can I mount a scope on the 783?

The rifle features a top-mounted receiver that accepts standard Picatinny rail-mounted scopes and rings, which are sold separately. Most hunters pair it with a variable-power hunting scope suited to their typical shooting distance.

What's included with the rifle?

The Remington 783 comes with the rifle, the detachable four-round magazine, and iron sights are not included. You will need to add a scope and mounting hardware to complete the setup for hunting or range use.

How does the CrossFire trigger work?

The CrossFire is a user-adjustable trigger system that allows you to customize the break weight and feel to suit your shooting style. Remington designs it for a clean, predictable release—important for accurate shot placement whether you're hunting or bench-shooting groups.
