The Remington 700 Black bolt-action rifle is one of the most versatile and proven platforms in American hunting and precision shooting. Model R27553 is built on the legendary short-action design that has earned respect across generations of hunters, sport shooters, and gunsmiths. If you're after a rifle that balances reliability, accuracy, and real-world usability—whether for whitetail hunts, range work, or precision rifle competition—the 700 Black delivers without compromise.
This rifle is chambered in .308 Winchester, a cartridge equally at home in the deer stand or on the long-range line. The short-action platform keeps weight down and handling quick, a genuine advantage in the field where you're covering ground. The externally adjustable X-Mark Pro trigger gives you clean, tunable break characteristics right out of the box—a feature that separates the 700 from rifles that ship with rough, heavy triggers.
The carbon steel construction and black finish are time-tested choices: durable enough for hard use, classic enough to work in any hunting scenario, and straightforward to maintain. The .473 bolt face is standard for .308 and related calibers, making ammunition and component sourcing straightforward. Whether you're building a custom gun or looking for a production rifle that won't let you down, the Remington 700 short action is the foundation countless hunters and shooters trust.
