The Mossberg 590 20" 20ga pump shotgun is a compact, hard-working firearm built for hunters and shooters who want serious capability in a lighter, quicker-handling package. This 20-gauge delivers the same legendary Mossberg 590 reliability that's trusted by law enforcement and military worldwide, but in a configuration that's easier on the shoulder and faster to swing on birds or clay. With a 9-shot capacity (8 in the magazine tube plus 1 in the chamber), you get plenty of follow-up rounds without the bulk of a 12-gauge.

The 20" barrel keeps the overall length down to 40" total, making this shotgun nimble in brush, trucks, boats, and tight spaces—ideal if you're hunting upland game, running clays, or need a home-defense shotgun that doesn't feel like a club. The 3" chamber lets you load modern ammunition and take advantage of today's shot loads and slugs. Ghost-ring sights are fitted from the factory, giving you a clean, instinctive sight picture that works well in varied light. Cylinder-bore choke means the pattern stays tight enough for hunting at practical ranges but forgiving enough for moving targets.

Built with a matte-blued barrel and a compact black synthetic stock, this 590 weighs just 7.25 pounds and resists weather without fuss—no babying required in the field. The fixed 13" length of pull fits most shooters comfortably and keeps handling quick. This is a no-nonsense, go-anywhere shotgun for folks who value durability, simplicity, and speed over flashy features.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Mossberg 590 20" good for hunting upland birds and small game?

Yes. The 20-gauge is a classic upland choice—lighter recoil and handling than a 12-gauge makes it easier to shoot accurately at fast-moving birds. The 3" chamber and cylinder-bore choke support modern shot loads at practical hunting ranges. The compact 20" barrel swings fast in brush.

What ammunition does this shotgun take?

The 3" chamber accepts 20-gauge shells up to 3" in length, including target loads, bird shot, buckshot, and slugs. Always check your specific load data and follow ammunition manufacturer guidelines.

What comes with the shotgun?

The shotgun ships with factory ghost-ring sights and cylinder-bore choke already installed. No additional sights or optics are included.

Will this shotgun fit a shorter person or youth shooter?

The fixed stock has a 13" length of pull, which fits most average adults and many youth shooters. If you need a different fit, aftermarket stocks and spacers are available through other retailers and gunsmiths.
