The Mossberg 590 9-shot 20" pump-action shotgun is a hard-working, dependable workhorse built for hunters, sport shooters, and anyone who needs a reliable 12-gauge on the job. The Model 50694 chambers 3" shells and holds nine rounds total, giving you real firepower and flexibility when it matters. Whether you're running drills, hunting waterfowl, or keeping one ready for home defense, this shotgun's straightforward pump action is smooth, proven, and simple to maintain in the field.

The 20" barrel with heat shield helps manage barrel temperatures during extended shooting and keeps your hands clear of a hot barrel between shots. A fixed pistol-grip synthetic stock in black provides a secure, comfortable hold in all weather, and the bead front sight gives you a clean sight picture for fast target acquisition. The cylinder bore choke means this gun shoots a wide, even pattern—ideal for close-range work and practical shooting scenarios. At 7.75 lbs unloaded, the 590 balances manageable weight with real utility; the compact 32.5" overall length (with stock retracted) makes it easy to maneuver in tight spaces.

Mossberg's 590 platform has earned respect among hunters, law enforcement, and shooters for decades because it runs when it needs to run. This particular model strikes a genuine balance between capacity, handling, and rugged reliability—no frills, just a shotgun that does the job right.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the 590 and other pump shotguns?

The Mossberg 590 is one of the most widely used pump shotguns in the world because of its reliability and simplicity. This particular model combines a practical 20" barrel for handling, a 3" chamber for shell options, and solid capacity in a compact package. The heat shield protects your hands during sustained shooting, and the field-tested design means fewer surprises downrange.

Can I use both 2.75" and 3" shells in this shotgun?

The Model 50694 has a 3" chamber, which safely handles both standard 2.75" and 3" shells. Always check your ammunition packaging to confirm gauge and chamber compatibility before loading.

What does "cylinder bore" choke mean?

Cylinder bore is the most open choke option—it produces a wide, even shot pattern that spreads quickly. This makes the 590 especially useful for close-quarters shooting, hunting in brush, or defensive situations where you need coverage rather than a tight pattern at distance.

What comes with the shotgun, and can I swap the stock?

The Model 50694 ships with the synthetic pistol-grip kit installed. The pistol grip can be removed to use a traditional stock if you prefer, and the specifications reflect both configurations. Mossberg shotguns accept a variety of aftermarket stocks and accessories if you want to customize down the road.
