The Henry H009G Side Gate Lever Action .30-30 rifle brings classic American rifle design into the modern hunting field with genuine improvements. This .30-30 Winchester lever action splits the difference between tradition and practicality: a 20-inch barrel keeps it maneuverable in thick cover where most whitetail and elk hunting happens, while the side gate loading mechanism lets you top off the magazine without unloading—a real convenience advantage over older tube-feed designs. At 7 pounds with a proper length of pull and American walnut furniture, it handles like a rifle that belongs in your hands, not a museum.

Built around Henry's robust receiver with a transfer bar safety, the H009G is drilled and tapped for modern optics from the factory, so you can set up a hunting rig without gunsmithing. The blued steel barrel and receiver have that traditional look, but the real story is the practical package: fully adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sight with a diamond insert for quick target acquisition, brass bead front sight for hunting light, and a ventilated rubber recoil pad that actually does its job. Five rounds of .30-30 capacity is plenty for the hunting scenarios where this caliber excels—120 to 150-yard shots at deer and elk in most terrain.

This is a rifle for hunters who actually hunt: people who want reliability without fuss, classic lines without compromise, and a tool that works in rain, mud, and cold without electronic complications. The walnut stock and blue steel won't win a safe queen competition, but they'll put game in the truck and memories in the memory bank.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I mount a scope on the Henry H009G .30-30 lever action?

Yes. The receiver is drilled and tapped from the factory and compatible with Weaver 63B mounts, so you can add a hunting scope without any gunsmithing. Iron sights are still available if you prefer the classic setup.

Is the side gate loading a real advantage over tube-feed lever guns?

For hunting, yes. The side gate lets you load rounds into the magazine one at a time without removing the magazine tube, so you can top off between shots or swap ammunition types without unloading the whole gun. It's a practical feature for field hunting.

What game is the .30-30 Winchester suitable for?

The .30-30 is a proven deer and elk cartridge out to approximately 125 yards, and it performs well in brush and timber where most hunting happens. It's not a long-range round, but it's been taking game reliably for over a century in real hunting conditions.

What's included with the rifle?

The H009G comes with the rifle, walnut stock, sling swivel studs, and the factory iron sights. Scope mounts, slings, and ammunition are sold separately.
