The Henry H009GAW Steel Load Gate lever action rifle in .30-30 Winchester is a classic American hunting rifle built for deer, elk, and other medium to large game at practical distances. This side-gate design brings modern convenience to the iconic lever-action platform, giving you the choice to load through the gate or traditional portside loading. It's the rifle for hunters who value reliability, handling, and honest performance over mall-ninja complexity—a dependable companion for brush country and timber stands where a quick, accurate shot matters more than maximum capacity.

The .30-30 Winchester remains one of the most effective and forgiving calibers for deer and elk hunting, especially in thickets and heavy cover where shots rarely exceed 125 yards. Henry's hard chrome-plated round barrel resists rust and corrosion in wet hunting conditions, while the industrial hard chrome satin receiver finish offers durability without glare. At 20 inches long and 7 pounds, this rifle balances quick handling with solid recoil management thanks to a black rubber recoil pad. The 1:12 twist rate stabilizes .30-30 projectiles across a range of bullet weights, giving you flexibility in ammunition choice.

Handling and sighting come first: the fully adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sight with diamond insert lets you dial elevation for your load and zero, while the brass bead front sight is easy to acquire in dim light. The rifle is drilled and tapped for scope mounting via Weaver bases, and Henry includes the 63B mount, so glass-topped hunting is ready to go. Stained hardwood furniture feels right in your hands, and the transfer bar safety is intuitive and reliable. Swivel studs front and rear accept standard rifle slings, and the five-round capacity is plenty for most hunting situations where patience and precision trump volume.

This is a no-frills, no-plastic working rifle for hunters who understand that .30-30 and lever action have put food on American tables for over a century—and will for a century more.
