The Henry Side Gate Lever Action Rifle in .30-30 Winchester is a classic American hunting rifle built for hunters who value tradition, reliability, and smooth, dependable action in the field. This Model H009BGL combines Henry's meticulous craftsmanship with a modern convenience—a side-loading gate—that makes feeding rounds faster and easier than traditional tube-magazine lever guns. The 20-inch octagon barrel and American walnut furniture give it authentic character without sacrificing functionality, making it equally at home on a hunting trip, at the range, or in a collector's cabinet.

The .30-30 Winchester has earned its place as one of the most respected hunting cartridges in North America for over a century. It delivers reliable energy for deer, elk, and similar game at typical hunting distances, and the 5-round capacity is plenty for ethical, deliberate shots. The polished hardened brass receiver catches the eye, while the semi-buckhorn rear sight with diamond insert and brass bead front sight are regulation sights tuned for practical hunting accuracy. If you want to modernize your setup, the rifle is drilled and tapped for a Weaver 63B scope mount, giving you the option to add glass without permanent modification.

Built on Henry's reputation for quality and attention to detail, this rifle handles like a dream. The transfer bar safety and large loop lever let you operate the gun smoothly even with gloved hands or in cold weather. At 8.30 pounds with a 14-inch length of pull, it's nimble enough for hunting from a stand or hiking through timber, yet substantial enough to shoot confidently from a bench. The brass buttplate and buttstock of American walnut are made to last generations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Henry Side Gate Lever Action Rifle good for hunting?

Yes. The .30-30 Winchester is a proven deer and elk cartridge, and this rifle's 20-inch barrel and semi-buckhorn sights are set up for practical hunting accuracy. The 5-round capacity and side-loading gate make it easy to top off in the field, and the rifle's 8.30-pound weight strikes a good balance between control and portability for hunting from a stand or hiking timber.

Can I mount a scope on this rifle?

Yes. The rifle is drilled and tapped for a Weaver 63B scope mount, so you can add glass if you prefer magnified aiming over the adjustable iron sights.

What does "side-loading gate" mean?

It means the magazine is loaded through a gate on the side of the receiver, rather than through the traditional tube magazine under the barrel. This makes it faster and easier to load and unload ammunition without feeding through the action.

What is the length of pull on this rifle, and is it suitable for different shooters?

The length of pull is 14 inches, which is a standard dimension suited to most adult shooters. If you need a different fit, check with Henry Repeating Arms about your specific needs.
