The Winchester Model 1885 in .243 Winchester is a modern take on a lever-action legend—a single-shot rifle built on the time-proven falling block action that's earned its reputation for accuracy and reliability over more than a century. If you're a precision shooter, dedicated hunter, or someone who appreciates classic rifle engineering paired with clean, honest performance, this is a rifle that rewards careful marksmanship and delivers results round after round.

The falling block design is inherently strong and has proven itself across countless calibers and shooting disciplines. This .243 Winchester chambering strikes a balance many shooters seek: manageable recoil, flat trajectory, and plenty of accuracy for medium-range hunting and range work. The 24-inch barrel provides a good sight plane without unnecessary bulk, and the full octagon profile gives this rifle its distinctive character. High-grade walnut stock, polished blue steel receiver and barrel, and 22 LPI checkering create a rifle that looks as serious about performance as it is about standing out in the field or at the bench.

Comfort matters when you're shooting, and Winchester equipped this Model 1885 with a Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad to tame felt recoil—useful when you're putting shots downrange all day or hunting in cold weather when you're bundled up. The rifle comes drilled and tapped for a scope mount and includes a one-piece base, sling swivel studs, and everything you need to get started. This is a gun that doesn't need much fuss: good sights, solid lockup, and the kind of accuracy that comes from a design refined by a century of shooters who demanded it.

The .243 Winchester is a popular, versatile cartridge known for relatively mild recoil, flat trajectory, and effectiveness for medium-range hunting. It's also well-suited to range work and target practice. The Pachmayr pad on this rifle helps manage what little recoil there is.

Why choose a single-shot rifle like the Model 1885?
