The Winchester Model 1885 in .223 Remington is a modern take on a rifle design that's been delivering accuracy for over a century. This falling block single-shot rifle pairs traditional American gunsmithing with practical features for hunters and precision shooters. Built with a 24-inch octagon barrel, high-grade walnut stock, and polished blue steel receiver, it's a rifle that looks as good as it shoots—and performs just as well at the range or in the field.
The falling block action is known for its strength and rigid lock-up, which translates directly into the kind of accuracy Winchester built this rifle's reputation on. Chambered in .223 Remington, it's versatile enough for varmint shooting, small-game hunting, or precision target work. The octagon barrel sports 22 LPI cut checkering for a solid grip in any condition, and the Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad keeps follow-up shots comfortable—important when you're working through a session at the bench or hunting all day in the field.
The rifle comes drilled and tapped for scope mounting, and includes a one-piece scope base so you can get behind glass without additional gunsmithing. Sling swivel studs are fitted, making it easy to add your preferred carry system. This is a gun that rewards precision and patience—exactly what you'd expect from Winchester's single-shot heritage.
