The Winchester 1873 Short Rifle in .357/.38 is a genuine lever-action rifle built on the design that defined American frontier firearms. This isn't a reimagined modern take—it's a faithful reproduction of one of history's most iconic repeaters, chambered in a versatile pistol cartridge that makes it ideal for hunters, sport shooters, and collectors who appreciate authentic rifles with real-world utility. At 20 inches, the barrel strikes a practical balance between handling and velocity, and the 10-round capacity gives you enough firepower for hunting or range sessions without excess.

The 1873 Short Rifle commands attention the moment you pick it up. Its walnut straight-grip stock wears a hand-rubbed oil finish that feels and looks like a rifle meant to be used, not just displayed. The receiver, magazine tube, and barrel are finished in classic blued steel, and the crescent buttplate—a timeless design—sits securely in your shoulder. Sights are straightforward: a semi-buckhorn rear and a brass bead front, giving you a clean sight picture for hunting and shooting. The rifle's receiver is drilled and tapped, so you can mount an optional tang sight if precision shooting demands it.

What makes the 1873 work as a modern rifle is its caliber pairing. The .357 Magnum and .38 Special both deliver manageable recoil and are easy to find and reload, making this lever gun a practical choice for hunting medium game, varmints, or simply enjoying a day at the range. The steel loading gate and full-length magazine tube ensure reliable feeding cycle after cycle. Whether you're a serious collector seeking an authentic period rifle or a shooter who values history and functionality in equal measure, the Winchester 1873 Short Rifle delivers both.
