The Weatherby Sorix Midnight Marsh 12 gauge shotgun is a modern inertia-operated semi-auto built for hunters who demand reliability in tough conditions. This 28-inch, 3.5-inch magnum shotgun combines proven field engineering with thoughtful ergonomics—oversized controls, a stepped rib with fiber optic sight, and Cerakote-coated receiver and barrel designed to handle whatever weather and terrain you encounter. Whether you're working marshes, timber, or open country, the Sorix delivers the speed and accuracy serious wingshooters expect.

The real innovation here is the Shift System, which lets left-handed shooters swap the charging handle and safety for a true southpaw setup—not an afterthought, but a fully supported operating experience. Right-handers get an aggressive competition-cut receiver for faster reloading, oversized bolt release (slammer button), and charging handle that work smoothly even in cold, wet, or gloved conditions. The textured stock and soft cheekpiece give you a secure, comfortable hold shot after shot.

Weatherby finished this gun in Italy, then hand-painted the Midnight Marsh pattern in their Sheridan, Wyoming shop, so every one has character. The receiver comes drilled and tapped (8-40 holes) for optics mounts, making it ready for a red dot or scope out of the box. Adjustable stock shims let you dial in cast and fit to your frame. It ships with five Crio Plus chokes (cylinder, improved cylinder, modified, improved modified, full), a choke wrench, and a carrying case—everything you need to dial in your pattern for the season ahead.

This is a shotgun built for people who actually hunt, not a safe queen. The Cerakote finish shrugs off salt spray and mud, the controls work when it matters, and the ergonomics suit both right and left-handed shooters equally. If you're tired of generic semi-autos and want something that balances performance, durability, and thoughtful design, the Sorix is worth a serious look.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can left-handed shooters use the Weatherby Sorix Midnight Marsh?

Yes. The Sorix features Weatherby's Shift System, which allows you to swap the charging handle and safety to configure the shotgun for left-handed operation. This is a full conversion—not an ambidextrous compromise—giving southpaw shooters the same ergonomic experience as right-handers.

Is this shotgun set up for mounting optics?

The receiver is drilled and tapped with 8-40 holes, so the Sorix ships optics-ready. You can mount a red dot, reflex sight, or scope without modification. It also comes with a stepped rib and LPA fiber optic sight for conventional shooting.

What chokes come with the gun and can I swap them?

The Sorix includes five Crio Plus chokes: cylinder, improved cylinder, modified, improved modified, and full. The Crio Plus system allows you to swap chokes quickly to match your load and shooting situation. A choke wrench and carrying case are included.

What finish does this gun have and how durable is it?

The receiver, barrel, and top rib are coated with Cerakote for corrosion resistance and durability in harsh conditions. The stock features a hand-painted Midnight Marsh pattern applied in Sheridan, Wyoming. The stock also has textured touch points for a secure grip and a soft cheekpiece for shooting comfort.
