The Weatherby 307 Alpine MDT is a modern bolt-action rifle purpose-built for hunters and long-range shooters who refuse to compromise between power and packability. Chambered in .300 PRC, this rifle combines Weatherby's new Model 307 action with MDT's ultra-light carbon fiber chassis to deliver a compact, field-ready platform that performs equally well on the range and in rugged terrain. The .300 PRC cartridge gives you serious velocity and energy for extended-range hunting without the bulk of traditional rifle builds.

The heart of the Alpine MDT is Weatherby's 2-lug, fully cylindrical Model 307 action—a departure from the company's iconic Mark V and Vanguard lines, designed from the ground up for modularity and aftermarket compatibility. The spiral-fluted bolt cycles smoothly and breaks down without tools, while the M16 extractor and side bolt release keep things running reliably in the field. A TriggerTech trigger gives you a clean, predictable break right out of the box. The barrel is threaded and ships with an included Accubrake muzzle device to tame recoil and manage muzzle rise; it's finished in durable Cerakote and features the same spiral fluting as the bolt for a refined, performance-first aesthetic.

What sets the Alpine apart is its no-nonsense chassis. The MDT HNT26 folding buttstock collapses the rifle by more than 9 inches, making it genuinely packable for backcountry hunts, overlanding, or transport—a significant advantage when real estate in your truck or pack is tight. The adjustable length-of-pull and cheek rest dial in comfort and repeatability for different shooting positions and optic heights. Built-in ARCA rails let you mount accessories your way, and AICS magazine compatibility keeps ammunition and feeding flexible. At 26 ounces for the chassis alone, weight is kept sensible for mountain work without sacrificing rigidity.

The 307 Alpine MDT is for shooters who want a modern, modular rifle without the bloat—whether you're dialing in at the range, hunting at elevation, or gearing up for remote adventures where portability matters.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the Model 307 action different from Weatherby's Mark V or Vanguard?

The Model 307 is Weatherby's newest bolt-action platform, built specifically for modularity and aftermarket compatibility. It features a 2-lug fully cylindrical design that works with a wide range of modern stocks, chassis systems, triggers, rails, and magazines—making it ideal if you want to customize or upgrade your rifle over time.

Is the MDT HNT26 chassis actually portable for hunting trips?

Yes. The foldable buttstock collapses the rifle by more than 9 inches total, making it genuinely compact for backcountry hunts, truck transport, or overlanding setups where space is at a premium. The adjustable LOP and cheek rest also allow you to dial in fit for different body types and shooting positions.

What muzzle device comes with this rifle?

The barrel arrives threaded and includes an Accubrake muzzle device, which helps manage recoil and muzzle rise—useful whether you're training at the range or working in the field.

What magazines does this rifle use?

The Weatherby 307 Alpine MDT is compatible with AICS magazines, giving you flexibility in ammunition options and aftermarket magazine choices.
