The Taylors & Company Drifter is a .45 LC single-action revolver built for shooters who appreciate classic Western styling without compromise. This 4.75-inch revolver combines period-correct aesthetics with a modern frame design, making it equally at home on the range, in Cowboy Action competition, or in the hands of a serious classic revolver collector. The Drifter's defining feature is its full octagonal barrel—a traditional detail that sets it apart from standard Cattleman models and gives the gun unmistakable old-school character.

Built on a forged frame with case hardening that delivers both durability and visual appeal, the Drifter is as functional as it is handsome. The .45 LC cartridge remains one of the most versatile and shootable revolver rounds available, suitable for everything from target work to hunting applications. A fixed front blade sight and rear frame notch keep the design simple and reliable—no plastic or gadgets, just proven mechanical fundamentals. The walnut grips feel right in your hand and age beautifully with use.

Taylor's offers tuning services on the Drifter, so if you want a refined trigger or performance tweaks, factory support is available. Whether you're new to single-action revolvers or adding to an established collection, the Drifter delivers the looks and handling of a gun from another era, backed by modern manufacturing standards and quality control.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is .45 LC and what can I use it for?

The .45 Long Colt is a classic revolver cartridge with a broad range of loadings, from mild target loads to substantial hunting rounds. It's widely available, shootable in most modern ammunition, and respected for both Cowboy Action competition and field use. It's a versatile choice for anyone serious about single-action revolvers.

What does "case hardened" mean on the frame?

Case hardening is a heat-treatment process that creates a hard, wear-resistant surface on the steel while keeping the interior slightly softer. On the Drifter's frame, it produces the distinctive mottled brown and gray patina you see in the finish—a historically accurate look that also provides practical protection against wear. The appearance will evolve naturally with use and handling.

Can I send my Drifter to Taylors & Company for tuning?

Yes. Taylors & Company offers Taylor Tuning services on this model. Contact the manufacturer directly for details on what tuning options are available and current turnaround times.

Is this revolver suitable for Cowboy Action Shooting?

The Drifter's classic single-action design, fixed sights, and .45 LC caliber make it well-suited to Cowboy Action competition, though you should verify that your specific competition organization approves the case-hardened frame finish and octagonal barrel configuration.
