The Taylors & Company 1873 Sporting Rifle in .45 LC brings the legendary Winchester design into your hands with authentic period craftsmanship. This lever-action rifle splits the difference between the earlier 1866 and later models, offering the versatility and reliability that made the 1873 an icon of the American West—and a favorite across civilian shooters, ranchers, and competition enthusiasts for nearly 150 years. With a 24.25-inch octagonal barrel and straight walnut stock, it handles like a classic while delivering the smooth, fast action lever-gun shooters have trusted for generations.
Chambered in .45 LC, this rifle gives you access to a deep well of ammunition options and reloading data, whether you're working up cowboy loads for Mounted Shooting, pushing modern pressures for hunting, or just enjoying the tack-driving potential of a purpose-built cartridge. The 13-round capacity means fewer reloads during a match or a day in the field. The buckhorn rear sight and blade front are period-correct and fully functional, though many owners upgrade to scout-style or receiver-mounted optics for precision work.
The blue finish on the barrel and receiver pairs with a case-hardened frame for a look that's both practical and historically faithful. At 8.2 pounds and 43.25 inches overall, it balances like a rifle should—quick to the shoulder, nimble in tight cover, and steady enough for longer shots when you get your technique dialed in. Whether you're a Cowboy Action Shooting competitor, a collector, or someone who simply appreciates the ergonomics and reliability of a lever gun, the 1873 Sporting Rifle is built to work hard and handle real shooting.
