The Taylors & Company 1873 .45 LC lever-action rifle brings authentic Old West character to the range or trail. Built on the classic 1873 platform, this 20-inch barreled rifle chambers the forgiving .45 LC—a cartridge that rewards precision and pairs naturally with period-correct revolvers. The straight-grip checkered walnut stock feels solid and traditional in your hands, while the blued finish gives it that timeless frontier look. At 7.59 pounds and 38.87 inches overall, it's nimble enough for brush country hunting or casual shooting, yet substantial enough to shoot straight all day.

This isn't a modern tactical platform; it's a rifle for shooters who appreciate mechanical simplicity and don't need a safe queen. The .45 LC round is mild-recoiling and subsonic-capable, making it an excellent choice for hunting medium game at reasonable distances or for cowboy action shooting competitions. The adjustable sights mean you can dial it in for your load and distance without aftermarket optics mounts—though traditionalists will appreciate that option staying open if you ever want to add one.

The 10-round magazine capacity and lever action give you quick follow-up shots when you need them. Whether you're working cattle country, setting up for a handgun cartridge rifle build, or diving into the lever-action shooting sports, the 1873 .45 LC is proven, straightforward, and built to work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this rifle good for cowboy action shooting?

Yes. The 1873 platform, .45 LC caliber, and 10-round capacity make it well-suited for cowboy action competition where traditional lever guns are the norm. The adjustable sights and straight grip stock are period-correct and practical for the sport.

Can I use .45 LC ammunition from my revolvers in this rifle?

The rifle chambers .45 LC, so it will fire the same cartridges as .45 LC revolvers. However, always verify ammunition compatibility and follow proper loading practices for rifle use.

What's the overall length, and will it fit in a standard rifle case?

The overall length is 38.87 inches. Most standard soft rifle cases and hard cases accommodate rifles in this length range, but measure your storage before purchasing.

Can I mount a scope or modern optics on this rifle?

The rifle comes with adjustable sights. Mounting modern optics would require aftermarket rail systems or mounts; compatibility with specific aftermarket mounting solutions is not covered in the factory specs provided.
