The Taurus Raging Hunter .454 Casull revolver is purpose-built for hunters who want stopping power without compromise. Chambered in the formidable .454 Casull cartridge, this five-shot revolver delivers the kind of performance needed for short- to medium-range hunting scenarios where a pistol is your primary tool. The 6.75-inch barrel strikes a balance between velocity and manageability, while the two-tone finish—pairing matte surfaces with polished accents—gives this big-bore revolver a distinctive, workmanlike appearance that looks as serious as it performs.
What sets the Raging Hunter apart is its thoughtful engineering. The angular barrel design reduces overall weight without sacrificing the heft you need for cartridges this powerful. Factory-tuned porting and an integrated gas expansion chamber work together to manage muzzle lift, keeping the gun manageable between shots and speeding up target reacquisition if follow-up shots are needed. The cushioned grip inserts absorb recoil energy and provide a secure, comfortable hold even during extended shooting sessions—critical when you're dealing with .454 Casull's substantial kick.
Double/single-action operation lets you choose between the measured trigger control of cocked-hammer shooting or the security of a heavier double-action press. The adjustable rear sight means you can dial in your zero at your preferred hunting distance, and the fixed front sight is built to survive hard use in the field. A transfer bar safety keeps the gun secure during carry and handling. At just over 54 ounces, it's hefty enough to manage recoil but portable enough for a day afield.
The Raging Hunter earned the 2019 American Hunter Handgun of the Year Golden Bullseye Award—recognition that reflects its capability and thoughtful design. This is a revolver for hunters who respect the cartridge, understand the power they're wielding, and want a gun that's built to deliver year after year.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Raging Hunter suitable for hunting?
Yes. The Raging Hunter is designed specifically for short- to medium-range hunting scenarios. The .454 Casull cartridge delivers substantial stopping power, and the 6.75-inch barrel provides the velocity and control you need for field use. The adjustable rear sight lets you zero it for your intended hunting distance.
How manageable is the .454 Casull recoil?
The factory-tuned porting and gas expansion chamber significantly reduce muzzle lift, making the gun easier to control between shots. The cushioned grip inserts absorb recoil energy and provide a secure hold. That said, .454 Casull is a powerful cartridge—expect substantial recoil, but the Raging Hunter is engineered to make it more manageable than a standard big-bore revolver.
Can I shoot both double and single action?
Yes. The Raging Hunter is a double/single-action revolver. You can cock the hammer for a lighter, more controlled trigger press in single-action mode, or use the heavier double-action trigger for faster, hammer-down shooting. Both are available in a single gun.
What sights come with this revolver?
The Raging Hunter includes a fixed front sight and an adjustable rear sight, allowing you to zero the gun for your preferred hunting distance and make windage corrections as needed.
