The Taurus Raging Hunter 6.75" .454 Casull revolver is a five-shot big-bore handgun built for hunters who demand serious stopping power in a manageable package. Chambered in the potent .454 Casull cartridge, this large-frame revolver delivers the kind of down-range energy needed for short- to medium-range hunting scenarios where precision and raw power matter. The 6.75" barrel strikes a balance between velocity and shootability, making it a genuine alternative to traditional hunting rifles in situations where a sidearm makes sense.

What sets the Raging Hunter apart is its thoughtful engineering. The angular barrel design keeps overall weight reasonable for a big-bore revolver—just 54 ounces—so you're not dragging a tank on your hip. Factory-tuned porting and a gas expansion chamber work together to manage muzzle lift, which means faster follow-ups and quicker target acquisition on game. The revolver operates in double-action/single-action mode, giving you flexibility depending on your shot presentation and comfort level. A transfer bar safety mechanism protects against accidental discharge if the gun is dropped.

Comfort matters when you're in the field. The cushioned insert grips are designed to absorb recoil and provide a controllable hold even when you're running hot .454 Casull loads. Fixed front and adjustable rear sights let you dial in your zero and make hold-over adjustments if needed. The oxide finish resists corrosion and wear, holding up to the rough treatment that hunting puts a gun through.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is .454 Casull and is it powerful enough for hunting?

.454 Casull is a large-bore revolver cartridge that generates significant stopping power. It's suitable for short- to medium-range hunting applications where a powerful handgun load is required. Actual effectiveness depends on game species, shot placement, and ammunition selection—consult local hunting regulations and ballistics data for your intended use.

Will this revolver be difficult to shoot due to recoil?

The Raging Hunter's factory-tuned porting and gas expansion chamber are designed to reduce muzzle lift, which helps manage recoil and speeds up follow-up shots. The cushioned grips also absorb impact. That said, .454 Casull is a powerful round, and shooters new to big-bore revolvers should practice extensively before hunting.

Can I adjust the sights for different distances?

The revolver features a fixed front sight and adjustable rear sight, allowing you to dial in your point of impact and make hold-over adjustments in the field.
