The Taurus Raging Hunter 5.12" .454 Casull revolver is a purpose-built big-bore hunting handgun for shooters serious about stopping power at close to medium range. Chambered in the heavy-hitting .454 Casull cartridge, this large-frame revolver delivers the kind of raw power you need for hog hunting, bear country backup, or any scenario where a rifle isn't practical. The 5-shot cylinder keeps things nimble, and the oxide finish offers solid corrosion resistance in field conditions without the fuss of constant maintenance.
What sets the Raging Hunter apart is the engineering behind it. The angular barrel design shaves ounces without compromising rigidity, and the factory-ported barrel with gas expansion chamber work together to tame muzzle jump—critical when you're running a cartridge with serious recoil and need quick follow-ups on target. The cushioned grips are more than comfort theater; they're genuinely designed to absorb punishment and keep you in control of the gun, not the other way around. Double/single-action operation gives you flexibility: deliberate trigger presses when you have time, or cocked-and-ready if things move fast.
The fixed front sight and adjustable rear sight combination is straight-forward and reliable—no electronics to fail in the field. Transfer bar safety means the gun won't fire if dropped. At just over 50 ounces and 10.9 inches overall, it's substantial enough to handle the cartridge but still packable in a quality holster or pack when you're glassing country on foot.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Raging Hunter designed for?
The Raging Hunter is built for hunting applications where you need close- to medium-range stopping power, including hog and bear hunting. The .454 Casull cartridge and large-frame design are engineered specifically for field use where recoil control and follow-up shot speed matter.
How does the ported barrel help during hunting?
The factory-ported barrel and gas expansion chamber reduce muzzle lift when you fire, which helps you stay on target and get back on target faster if you need a follow-up shot. With a cartridge as powerful as the .454 Casull, any edge in recoil management improves your ability to shoot accurately under field conditions.
Is this revolver safe to carry in the field?
Yes. The transfer bar safety mechanism prevents the revolver from firing if dropped. The double/single-action design also gives you control—you can carry it uncocked with a long, deliberate trigger press for safety, or cock it quickly if you need faster access.
What sights does it have?
The Raging Hunter features a fixed front sight and an adjustable rear sight, allowing you to dial in your zero at your intended hunting distance and make windage and elevation corrections as needed.
