The Taurus Raging Hunter .44 Magnum revolver is a large-frame, six-shot wheelgun built for hunters who need serious stopping power in short- to medium-range scenarios. This two-tone finished model pairs a 6.75-inch barrel with Taurus's distinctive angular design—a geometry that sheds weight without sacrificing the heft needed to manage .44 Magnum recoil. If you hunt hog, deer, or other game where a revolver makes sense, or you're looking for a powerful, reliable handgun for sport shooting, the Raging Hunter delivers both capability and handling that reward practice and precision.

The revolver's porting system and gas expansion chamber work together to reduce muzzle lift, which means faster follow-up shots and less flinch-inducing rise—important when accuracy matters in the field. The cushioned grips absorb recoil and let you maintain control even through a full cylinder of full-power loads. Double/single-action mechanics give you flexibility: use the lighter single-action trigger for deliberate shots at distance, or rely on the double-action for fast work at closer range. The fixed front sight and adjustable rear sight are set up for practical hunting distances, and the transfer bar safety keeps the gun from firing if dropped.

At 53 ounces and 12.60 inches overall, this is a hefty revolver—but that mass works for you, soaking up the bark and recoil of magnum power so you can shoot it accurately. The two-tone finish (likely stainless and blued or similar) resists corrosion during wet seasons and doesn't reflect light like full nickel, making it suitable for the field. This is a working gun for serious handgun hunters and a serious alternative to semi-automatic magnums.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Raging Hunter suitable for hunting?

Yes. The .44 Magnum cartridge and six-shot capacity make it a practical choice for short- to medium-range hunting of game like hog and deer. The adjustable rear sight lets you zero the gun for your preferred hunting distance, and the porting system helps manage recoil for quicker follow-up shots if needed.

What's the difference between double-action and single-action shooting on this revolver?

The Raging Hunter features both modes: in double-action, you pull the trigger to cock and fire, useful for quick shots at closer range; in single-action, you manually cock the hammer first for a shorter, lighter trigger press, which is often preferred for deliberate, longer-distance shots where precision matters.

Will the two-tone finish hold up in the field?

Two-tone finishes combine stainless steel and blued or similar surfaces to resist corrosion better than bare steel alone, while avoiding the high-gloss reflection of full nickel. It's suitable for hunting and outdoor use, though like any gun, occasional cleaning and light oiling will preserve the finish.

What grips come on this revolver?

The Raging Hunter comes with cushioned insert grips designed to absorb recoil and provide a comfortable, controllable hold through extended shooting sessions.
