The Savage Arms Stevens 555 is a .410 gauge over/under shotgun built for hunters and sport shooters who value reliability and handling in a compact, efficient package. The .410 bore delivers reduced recoil and excellent shot placement potential, making it ideal for upland game, target work, or introducing shooters to over/under shotgun dynamics. The oil brown finish provides a classic, field-proven aesthetic while protecting the steel beneath.

Over/under shotgun design positions the barrels vertically, which many shooters prefer for improved sight picture and faster target acquisition compared to side-by-side or pump configurations. The Stevens line carries Savage's reputation for no-nonsense performance—you get a functional, reliable gun without unnecessary frills or premium pricing.

Whether you're working upland cover, practicing at clay targets, or passing down a dependable gun to the next generation, the Stevens 555 .410 delivers the straightforward performance that field hunters and competitive shooters rely on.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a .410 gauge shotgun best suited for?

The .410 bore is ideal for upland hunting, target shooting, and training shooters who benefit from lighter recoil. It's also popular for small-game hunting where a larger gauge would be overkill.

Why choose an over/under shotgun?

Over/under shotguns offer a superior sight picture due to the vertically stacked barrels, faster target transitions, and are the standard in clay sports. Many hunters and shooters find them more intuitive than side-by-side configurations.

Is the Stevens 555 suitable for both hunting and sport shooting?

Yes. The .410 over/under design works well for upland hunting, clay target practice, and general shooting discipline. The reliable action and compact handling make it versatile for field and range use.
