The Remington 870 Tac 12 gauge shotgun is a purpose-built pump-action shotgun that combines the reliability of Remington's legendary 870 platform with tactical features designed for home defense, law enforcement training, and serious sport shooting. The 18.5" barrel keeps the gun handy and quick to maneuver in tight spaces, while the extended magazine tube gives you 7 rounds of 12-gauge capacity (firing 2¾" or 3" shells) — more than enough for the job at hand.

This tactical 12 gauge comes ready to fight, with XS Sights ghost ring and blade front sight system already installed and fully adjustable for windage and elevation. The ghost ring design lets you acquire targets quickly whether you're shooting slugs or buckshot, and the blade sight's fast acquisition profile means less thinking and more doing when it counts. The receiver is already drilled and tapped with an XS Picatinney rail, so mounting additional optics or light systems is straightforward—no gunsmith required.

Build quality reflects the Remington 870's earned reputation: the synthetic black stock and fore-end are durable and low-maintenance, sling swivel studs come standard, and the pump action cycles reliably through thousands of rounds. The extended ported tactical choke tube is already in the barrel, tuned for the way tactical shotguns are actually used. At 7.5 lbs and 38.5" overall length, it's a working gun, not a range toy.

Frequently Asked Questions

What ammo does this tactical 12 gauge shoot?

The Remington 870 Tac fires both 2¾" and 3" 12-gauge shotshells. The 3" chamber gives you flexibility to use either length—useful since most defensive buckshot loads run 2¾", while some specialty loads (like certain slugs) come in 3".

Can I add a red dot or scope to this shotgun?

Yes. The receiver is already drilled and tapped, and an XS Picatinney rail is included. You can mount optics directly to the rail without additional gunsmithing.

How much ammo does the extended magazine tube hold?

With the 2-shot magazine extension installed, total capacity is 7 rounds (1 in the chamber plus 6 in the tube). The extended ported tube is already mounted.

Is this shotgun good for home defense?

The 870 Tac's short 18.5" barrel, adjustable sights optimized for fast target acquisition, and 7-round capacity make it well-suited to home defense work. The pump action is simple and reliable, and the synthetic furniture resists moisture and damage in demanding conditions.
