The Remington 870 Wingmaster is the pump-action shotgun that defined the category—and for good reason. This 12-gauge with a 28-inch barrel and ventilated rib is built for hunters and sport shooters who value reliability, accuracy, and a gun that simply works in the field. The 3-inch chamber handles standard loads and magnum shells, while the 4-round capacity gives you what you need for waterfowl, upland game, or clay shooting. At 7.25 pounds with a high-gloss walnut stock, the Wingmaster balances enough heft for smooth cycling with pointability that doesn't wear you down over a long day.

The 28-inch barrel is the sweet spot for most shooting disciplines—long enough for patterns and lead, short enough to move through brush and around obstacles. The ventilated rib helps you track moving targets and reduces muzzle jump, while dual beads give you a simple, instinctive sight picture that works whether you're swinging on ducks or breaking clays. The blued finish on steel and walnut furniture is classic Remington—professional in appearance and proven in the field.

The Wingmaster's reputation rests on its action: smooth, fast, and dependable. It's the pump gun law enforcement trained with for decades, the shotgun millions of hunters trust, and the platform gunsmiths and customizers build on because it just plain works. Whether you're chasing your first season or you're a veteran adding another gun to the cabinet, the 870 Wingmaster earns its place.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Remington 870 Wingmaster best used for?

The 28-inch barrel makes this Wingmaster well-suited for waterfowl and upland hunting, as well as sport and clay shooting. The ventilated rib and dual beads support accurate target acquisition across these disciplines.

Will this shotgun handle magnum loads?

Yes. The 3-inch chamber accommodates both standard 2.75-inch and 3-inch magnum shotshells, giving you flexibility in ammunition selection for different hunting scenarios.

What does the ventilated rib do?

The ventilated rib reduces muzzle jump and helps you maintain sight picture through the recoil cycle, making it easier to track moving targets and recover for follow-up shots.

Is the Wingmaster easy to field-strip and maintain?

The 870 platform is straightforward to operate and clean. For detailed maintenance procedures, consult the owner's manual or a qualified gunsmith.
