The Remington 870 Wingmaster in 20 gauge is one of the most reliable pump shotguns ever built, and this 26-inch vent rib model brings classic handling to upland hunting, clay sports, and home defense. The 870 platform has been trusted by hunters and shooters for generations, and the Wingmaster version pairs that proven action with refined aesthetics—a gun that works hard but looks good doing it. At 7.25 pounds, it's lighter than many 12-gauge alternatives, making it ideal for long days in the field without fatigue.

The 3-inch chamber gives you flexibility with standard or magnum 20-gauge ammunition, and the 4-round capacity (plus one in the pipe) puts you in position for follow-up shots when they matter. The ventilated rib and dual bead sights keep your sight picture clean and fast, whether you're swinging on flushing birds or working a clay target course. The high-gloss walnut furniture and blued finish are timeless—this is a shotgun that respects tradition without apology.

A 26-inch barrel strikes the sweet spot for upland work: short enough to navigate thick cover and swing quick, long enough to pattern well and maintain velocity on longer shots. The pump action is smooth, reliable, and simple to maintain—there's no over-engineering here, just solid mechanics that have earned their reputation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the best use for a 20-gauge shotgun with a 26-inch barrel?

This setup is ideal for upland hunting—quail, pheasant, grouse—where you need quick target acquisition and a light gun to carry all day. The 26-inch barrel is short enough to handle brush and timber but long enough to deliver good patterns. It's also a solid choice for clay target shooting and smaller-game hunting.

Can I shoot both regular and magnum 20-gauge shells?

Yes. The 3-inch chamber handles both standard 2.75-inch and 3-inch magnum 20-gauge ammunition, so you have flexibility in load selection depending on your hunting situation.

Is the Remington 870 Wingmaster easy to maintain?

Absolutely. The 870 pump action is legendary for simplicity and reliability. Field stripping for cleaning is straightforward, and parts are widely available. It's a gun that rewards basic maintenance with decades of dependable performance.
