The Remington 700 BDL in .243 Winchester is a classic bolt-action rifle built for hunters and riflemen who value accuracy, reliability, and clean aesthetics. The .243 Winchester caliber delivers flat-shooting performance with mild recoil, making it an excellent choice for whitetail, mule deer, and small-to-medium game hunters, as well as target shooters who want a rifle that's easy to shoot accurately at distance. The 22-inch blue barrel strikes a practical balance between velocity and handling, while the polished blued finish on carbon steel delivers that timeless look that's defined serious hunting rifles for generations.

This BDL variant sits at the heart of Remington's rifle lineup—the controlled-feed bolt-action action is smooth and dependable, and the gloss American walnut stock gives you a rifle that feels right in hand whether you're in a stand or on a bench. At 7.25 pounds, it's light enough for a day in the field but substantial enough to settle naturally when you're behind glass. The four-round magazine capacity keeps you loaded for most hunting scenarios without excessive weight or bulk.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the Remington 700 BDL good for?

The 700 BDL is a versatile hunting and target rifle. In .243 Winchester, it's particularly well-suited for whitetail and mule deer hunting, as well as varmint work and precision rifle shooting. The caliber's light recoil makes it accessible for new shooters and allows for quick, accurate follow-up shots.

Is the Remington 700 a popular platform for upgrades?

Yes. The Remington 700 has one of the largest aftermarket ecosystems in the firearms industry. Stocks, triggers, barrels, magazines, and chassis systems are widely available, making it straightforward to customize or build on this rifle if you choose to.

What do the stock dimensions mean for me?

The 13.375-inch length of pull suits most adult shooters and many younger hunters with an appropriate recoil pad. The drop at comb and heel measurements describe how the stock's cheekrest and heel align with the bore axis, affecting your natural sight picture. These dimensions are standard for traditional rifle stocks and work well with typical optics mounting.

Does it come with a scope or optics?

The rifle is sold without optics. You'll need to add a scope and rings to the drilled and tapped receiver if you plan to use it beyond iron sights or similar systems.
