The Riley Defense RAK556 5.56 Poly Krink is a semi-automatic pistol built on proven AK-pattern mechanics and chambered in 5.56x45mm. At 21 inches overall length, it splits the difference between a compact firearm and something with enough sight radius and barrel length to deliver serious velocity—making it equally at home as a truck gun, range toy, or specialized close-quarters platform. The "Krink" legacy means a gun engineered for function over frills, and this model proves it with forged trunnion, bolt, and carrier components that can handle hard use without apology.

This particular variant comes set up with a plugged and pinned 100-series side-folding rear trunnion (4.5mm), giving you the foundation for a folding-stock configuration if you decide to go that direction later. The 8.5-inch chrome-lined barrel pairs with a 4-piece muzzle brake to manage recoil and keep the platform controllable. Cooling and grip are addressed with a serrated upper handguard for sure purchase and a stainless steel heat shield on the lower handguard, all crowned by a tactical pistol grip. The receiver is fully heat-treated mil-spec stamped steel, and you get a hinged dust cover, bolt hold-open safety lever, extended mag release, and a machined scope-mount side rail for optics or accessories. Semi-automatic closed-bolt operation, 30-round magazine capacity, and a spring-loaded firing pin round out the core package.

If you're drawn to AK ergonomics and reliability but want a compact 5.56 platform with genuine parts-quality and proper heat-treatment standards, the Riley Defense Krink delivers without the marketing noise. It's a working gun for shooters who know what they want.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I add a folding stock to this gun?

The RAK556 comes with a plugged and pinned 100-series side-folding rear trunnion (4.5mm), which means it's set up to accept a compatible folding stock if you choose to add one later.

What's included in the box?

The gun ships with the pistol configured as described—trunnion and components included. It does not come with a side-folding stock installed; that's a separate upgrade if desired.

Is this a true AK-pattern platform?

Yes. The RAK556 is built on AK mechanics: stamped receiver, forged trunnion/bolt/carrier, and side-rail mounting. It chambers 5.56x45mm and operates as a semi-automatic closed-bolt rifle.

What's the practical use for an 8.5-inch 5.56 pistol?

With its compact 21-inch overall length and proven AK-pattern reliability, it works as a truck gun, range platform, or specialized short-distance carbine. The 8.5-inch barrel still delivers meaningful velocity while keeping the gun maneuverable.
