The North American Arms Ranger II .22LR revolver is a compact, single-action wheelgun built for shooters who value portability without sacrificing shootability. This 5-round revolver chambers .22 Long Rifle and comes with a 4-inch full ribbed barrel that delivers better sight radius and control than smaller pocket revolvers—making it genuinely pleasant to shoot at the range or for small-game hunting. At just 8.1 ounces and 7.5 inches overall length, the Ranger II fits the role of a backpack gun, trail revolver, or even an alternative to a semi-auto for shooters who prefer simplicity and reliability.

The break-open cylinder and star ejector make reloading straightforward in the field. A bead sight provides a clear aiming point for close-range work. The stainless steel bead-blasted finish handles weather and hard use without fussing, while the rosewood boot grips offer a classic feel and secure purchase even in rough conditions. Single-action operation means you'll need to manually cock the hammer for each shot—a deliberate, controlled trigger pull that suits informal shooting and hunting equally well.

The Ranger II occupies a real niche: too small to be a primary defensive revolver, but large enough (and accurate enough) to actually enjoy shooting and hunting with. Backpackers, overlanders, and small-game hunters often carry one as a reliable, low-maintenance companion that asks nothing of you except to function—and NAA revolvers have earned a reputation for doing exactly that.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Ranger II a good backpack or trail gun?

Yes. At 8.1 ounces and less than 8 inches long, it's light and compact enough to carry without thought. The 4-inch barrel gives you better accuracy and ballistics than a snub-nose, and the stainless finish won't rust if exposed to weather. Many overlanders and backpackers carry one as a reliable, low-maintenance companion revolver.

Can I hunt with the Ranger II .22LR?

The .22 LR is suitable for small game like squirrels, rabbits, and similar prey at reasonable range. The 4-inch barrel and bead sight support accurate shot placement, and the single-action trigger rewards a steady hand. Whether it's right for your hunting depends on your game and your comfort with the caliber.

What's included with the revolver?

The Ranger II comes with rosewood boot grips installed. The facts provided do not cover other accessories or documentation; contact us directly if you need details about what else ships with the gun.

What's the difference between single-action and double-action revolvers?

Single-action means you must manually cock the hammer before each shot. Double-action lets you fire by pressing the trigger without pre-cocking, though cocking is also an option. Single-action triggers are typically cleaner and easier to shoot accurately, but require more deliberate operation. The Ranger II's single-action design suits careful, intentional shooting—whether at the range or afield.
