The North American Arms Ranger II is a compact single-action revolver chambered in .22 LR/.22 Magnum, designed for shooters who value portability without sacrificing reliability. At just 7.9 ounces with a 2.5-inch barrel, this pocket revolver fits easily into a pack, truck console, or hiking pack—making it a natural choice for plinking, small-game hunting, or backup carry on extended trips into the backcountry. The break-open cylinder design and included conversion cylinder give you the flexibility to load either .22 LR or .22 Magnum from the same gun, so you can match your ammunition to the shot at hand.

Built from stainless steel throughout, the Ranger II is corrosion-resistant and low-maintenance—ideal for overlanders and hunters who operate in wet or harsh environments. The single-action trigger is crisp and predictable, and the safety-notched cylinder keeps the hammer resting on an empty chamber for secure carry. Rosewood boot grips provide a classic, comfortable hold despite the gun's diminutive size, and the front bead sight is simple and fast to acquire on target.

This is a tool for serious shooters who understand that smaller doesn't mean less capable. The Ranger II trades raw power for modularity, portability, and the kind of reliability that comes from proven, uncomplicated design. Whether you're after varmints on the property, need a truck gun that won't weigh you down, or want a fun range revolver that won't break the bank, the North American Arms Ranger II delivers. Note that PMC brand ammunition should not be used in this firearm per manufacturer guidance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I shoot both .22 LR and .22 Magnum in the same gun?

Yes. The Ranger II comes with two cylinders—one for .22 Long Rifle and one for .22 Magnum. Simply break open the frame and swap cylinders to change calibers. This gives you the flexibility to load the round that best suits your hunt, range session, or intended use.

Is this revolver suitable for carry or backpacking?

Absolutely. At 7.9 ounces and just 6 inches overall, the Ranger II is extremely portable. Many shooters carry it as a backup revolver in a pack, truck, or as a trail gun during extended outdoor trips where every ounce matters.

What ammunition should I avoid?

Per the manufacturer, do not use PMC brand ammunition in this firearm. All other standard .22 LR and .22 Magnum ammunition from mainstream manufacturers is appropriate.

How does the safety work on this gun?

The Ranger II features a safety-notched cylinder, which means the hammer rests on an empty chamber between loaded rounds. This is a time-tested passive safety mechanism that keeps the gun secure during carry without requiring an active safety lever.
