The Heritage Rough Rider .22LR/.22WMR 6-round revolver is a reliable, affordable single-action rimfire that punches well above its price point for plinking, small-game hunting, and learning solid revolver fundamentals. Built on a classic SAA-style frame, this is the gun you hand to a new shooter or keep in a truck for backyard target work without breaking the bank or worrying about wear and tear. The 6-inch barrel gives you enough sight radius for decent accuracy at reasonable distances while keeping the package handy enough for general use.

Heritage engineered this revolver with a steel barrel and cylinder for durability where it counts, while using an alloy frame to keep overall weight reasonable at 33.4 ounces. The fixed open sights are straightforward—no batteries, no adjustments, no excuses. You aim and you shoot. The nickel trigger breaks cleanly, and the black grips provide secure, comfortable purchase whether you're shooting right- or left-handed. Made in the USA, the Rough Rider represents honest manufacturing at a fair price—no unnecessary features, just proven design that works.

The .22 Long Rifle and .22 Winchester Magnum compatibility means you can practice with inexpensive .22 LR ammo or step up to the magnum round for a bit more velocity and energy when needed. That flexibility makes this revolver genuinely useful across different shooting scenarios without buying a second gun. Whether you're zeroing fundamentals, taking on prairie dogs, or just burning through a brick of cheap ammo on a Saturday afternoon, the Rough Rider delivers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can this revolver shoot both .22 LR and .22 WMR without modifications?

Yes. The Rough Rider is chambered to accept both .22 Long Rifle and .22 Winchester Magnum ammunition in the same cylinder—no swaps or special cylinders required. You can load rounds of either caliber as needed.

What kind of accuracy can I expect at typical shooting distances?

The 6-inch barrel and fixed open sights are designed for practical accuracy at moderate distances suitable for target shooting and small-game hunting. Actual performance depends on ammunition quality, your technique, and the specific distance, but the sight radius and single-action trigger support solid fundamentals.

Is this revolver a good choice for a beginner or new shooter?

The Rough Rider is an excellent trainer. The .22 rimfire cartridge has minimal recoil and cost per round, the single-action mechanism is simple and intuitive, and the straightforward fixed sights teach sight alignment without distraction. It's also affordable, so new shooters can practice without anxiety.

What finish does it have, and how does it hold up?

The barrel and cylinder feature a blued steel finish; the frame is blued alloy. This finish provides corrosion resistance and a classic appearance. Regular cleaning and light oiling will keep it protected, especially if exposed to moisture or field use.
