The Henry Side Gate Lever Action Rifle in .35 Remington is a classically-styled hunting and deer rifle built for shooters who appreciate American walnut, smooth lever operation, and the stopping power of a cartridge proven on medium to large game. This Model H024-35 combines traditional lever-action mechanics with practical hunting features, making it a solid choice for hunters working timber or moderate-range hunting scenarios where the .35 Rem's trajectory and energy deliver reliable performance out to around 125 yards.

What sets the Side Gate apart is the loading gate machined into the receiver—a refinement that makes feeding rounds smoother and more intuitive than traditional tube-fed designs. The 20-inch round barrel keeps the rifle manageable in brush and thick cover, while the polished brass receiver and American walnut furniture give it a classic, purposeful appearance that works equally well in a truck rack or a trophy room. The transfer bar safety sits solidly in the traditional lever action lineage, and drilled-and-tapped receivers mean you can mount optics if you want to extend effective range or improve sight picture as you age into the rifle.

Factory-installed semi-buckhorn rear sight with diamond insert and a ramp front sight with ivory bead allow for quick, honest shooting without electronics. The rifle carries five rounds, weighs 7.5 pounds, and spans 38.3 inches overall—proportions that favor carry and handling over magazine capacity. Swivel studs are already fitted for sling attachment, and the brass buttplate complements the receiver finish. This is a rifle that respects the lever-action tradition while offering the practical touches modern hunters expect.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I mount a scope on the Henry Side Gate .35 Remington?

Yes. The receiver is drilled and tapped to accept scope mounts. It ships compatible with Weaver 63B mounts, so you have plenty of modern optic options if you want to improve accuracy or shooting distance beyond the factory iron sights.

What hunting situations is the .35 Remington best suited for?

The .35 Rem is a proven deer and larger game cartridge, most effective out to around 125 yards. It excels in timber, thick brush, or moderate-range hunting where you're closing the distance to your quarry and rely on the cartridge's stopping power rather than extreme velocity.

Does the Henry Side Gate come with sling swivels installed?

Yes. Swivel studs are pre-installed, so you can attach a sling right out of the box for easy carry in the field.

What does the side gate loading feature do differently from a traditional tube-fed lever action?

The side gate allows you to load cartridges into the magazine through a port in the receiver side, making feeding smoother and more intuitive than manually feeding rounds down a tube. It's a refinement on classic lever-action design that improves the shooting experience without sacrificing the traditional profile.
