The Great Lakes Firearms AR-15 GLFA GL15223SSMURB is a .223 Wylde Mission series rifle built for shooters who want a modern, capable platform without unnecessary complexity. This urban-focused AR combines a rugged 7075 billet lower receiver with a 416R stainless steel barrel, giving you the precision and durability expected from a quality mid-range rifle. The .223 Wylde chamber adds flexibility—it runs both 5.56 NATO and .223 Remington ammunition reliably, a real advantage if you shoot surplus mil-spec rounds or reload. Whether you're setting up a first AR, adding a versatile rifle to your collection, or building a dependable platform for the range or field, the GLFA Mission series delivers solid engineering at a thoughtful price point.

The 16-inch barrel with 1:8 twist rate is a practical choice for general shooting and hunting applications. That twist rate handles a broad range of bullet weights effectively, and the 16-inch length balances maneuverability with velocity. The 15.125-inch M-LOK handguard gives you plenty of real estate to mount lights, grips, or optics without the bloat of a longer setup. One 30-round magazine is included to get you shooting right away.

What sets this rifle apart is the urban camouflage Cerakote finish on the lower—a nod to the Mission series' practical, modern aesthetic. The cerakote coating protects against corrosion and daily wear better than standard parkerizing or anodizing alone. Build quality here reflects Great Lakes Firearms' attention to materials: the 7075-T6 billet lower is machined from premium aluminum and the stainless steel barrel won't rust under neglect the way chrome-moly does. It's a rifle that respects your investment and rewards careful ownership.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I shoot 5.56 NATO in a .223 Wylde rifle?

Yes. The .223 Wylde chamber is specifically designed to safely and reliably fire both 5.56 NATO and .223 Remington ammunition. This chamber type is a real advantage if you want ammunition flexibility at the range or in the field.

What's the difference between the 1:8 twist rate and other twists?

A 1:8 twist rate (one full rotation every 8 inches of barrel) is versatile across a wide range of bullet weights in .223—from lighter varmint rounds to heavier hunting projectiles. It's a solid middle ground for general-purpose shooting without being overly specialized.

Does this rifle come with optics or sights?

The rifle ships with one 30-round magazine. Optics and iron sights are not included; the M-LOK handguard provides plenty of real estate to mount your choice of optics and accessories.

What makes the billet lower receiver worth the investment?

A 7075-T6 billet lower is machined from a solid block of premium aluminum and offers tighter tolerances and greater structural rigidity than forged alternatives. Combined with the stainless steel barrel, it's built to hold its accuracy and reliability over years of shooting.
