The Great Lakes Firearms AR-15 GLFA GL15223MCMP in .223 Wylde is a Mission Series rifle built for hunters who want a versatile, reliable platform without the usual AR complexity. The .223 Wylde chamber accepts both .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO ammunition, giving you flexibility whether you're splitting time between the range and deer camp. This isn't a stripped-down budget build—Great Lakes engineered it with the details that matter for field work: a 7075 billet lower receiver machined from aerospace-grade aluminum, and a cold-hammer-forged 4150 Chrome-Moly Vanadium barrel with nitride hardening for durability and corrosion resistance.

The 16-inch barrel with 1:8 twist stabilizes a wide range of .223 loads, and the 15.125-inch M-Lok rail gives you genuine real estate to mount optics, lights, or other accessories without the frame clutter of full-length quad rails. You'll appreciate the cleaner ergonomics once you're glassing a ridge or moving through brush. The rifle ships with one 30-round magazine, so you're ready to run it out of the box. The Deer Camp Edition finish—a camouflage Cerakote—is built to hide in the timber and weather season after season without paint flaking or finish wear.

If you shoot .223 and want a modern rifle platform that splits the difference between hunting practicality and shooting sport versatility, the GLFA Mission Series delivers solid build quality and field-ready ergonomics. This is the kind of rifle that earns trust through consistent performance, not marketing hype.

Frequently Asked Questions

What ammunition can I shoot in this .223 Wylde rifle?

The .223 Wylde chamber is designed to safely and accurately fire both .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO ammunition. This dual compatibility makes the rifle flexible for hunting, range work, and practice without concern for chamber mismatch.

Is this rifle good for hunting deer?

The GLFA Mission Series is built with field hunters in mind. The 16-inch barrel, lightweight profile, and clean M-Lok rail system make it handy in timber and brush. The .223 Wylde caliber is suitable for hunting applications where legal, and the Deer Camp Edition finish is designed for concealment in hunting environments.

What's the difference between the 7075 billet lower and a standard AR lower?

The 7075 billet lower is machined from aerospace-grade aluminum and offers tighter tolerances and greater durability than conventional forged lowers. This precision manufacturing contributes to the rifle's overall reliability and longevity.

Can I mount an optic to this rifle?

Yes. The 15.125-inch M-Lok rail provides a solid mounting surface for scopes, red dots, and other accessories. The rail's M-Lok slots allow you to attach gear at multiple positions without adding unnecessary bulk.
