The Great Lakes Firearms AR-15 in .223 Wylde is a versatile, no-frills platform rifle built for shooters who want a reliable semi-automatic that handles both .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO ammunition. That caliber flexibility matters on the range or in the field—you're not locked into one ammo type. This 16-inch barrel rifle delivers the handling balance hunters and sport shooters expect from a mid-length AR, weighing in at 6.8 lbs, while the heavy barrel profile supports consistent accuracy for precision work.

The aluminum 7075 upper and lower receivers keep the rifle lightweight without sacrificing rigidity, and the full-length Picatinny rail handguard (15.25" of 6061 aluminum) gives you plenty of real estate for mounting optics, lights, or other accessories. The carbine-length gas system and M4 feed ramps are field-proven AR standards. You get a single 30-round magazine with the rifle, and the muzzle brake (designed for wrench-tight installation) is already mounted and threaded 1/2x28. The mil-spec polymer grip and stock trigger (5.5–6 lb pull) are functional and familiar to anyone with AR experience.

Built on that universal platform, this Great Lakes rifle won't surprise you—which is the point. It's a solid foundation for a hunting rifle, range gun, or trainer, and the .223 Wylde chamber is the smart choice if you plan to shoot both military and commercial ammunition without compromise. The Cerakote finish protects the barrel and receiver in the field. No sights are installed, so plan for an optic or iron-sight setup to suit your mission.
