The Cimarron 1874 AS200 45-70 rifle brings classic falling-block precision to the field in a package that honors the rifle's legendary heritage. Built on a single-shot action chambered for the venerable 45-70 Government cartridge, this "From Down Under" edition pairs a 34-inch barrel with hand-oiled checkered walnut furniture and a period-correct patch box—the kind of rifle that looks equally at home on a backcountry hunt or at the range. Falling-block rifles reward deliberate shooting, and the 1874 AS200 is no exception: every shot counts, every movement is intentional, and accuracy is the standard, not the exception.

If you're hunting big game at distance, running vintage rifle competitions, or simply want a rifle that demands respect and delivers reliability, the Cimarron 1874 speaks a language that modern semi-autos never will. The case-colored receiver and blued barrel create a finish that ages gracefully and protects under field conditions. At 12.3 pounds, it's substantial enough to steady your aim but still manageable on a day-long hunt or a long session at the bench. The adjustable ladder rear sight and front dovetail blade sight are straightforward, fast-to-use, and proven—no batteries, no zeroing electronics, just iron sights that work.

This is a rifle for shooters who understand that simplicity and single-shot discipline never go out of style. Whether you're drawn to the 45-70's proven stopping power, the aesthetics of a classic American rifle, or the purity of a falling-block action, the Cimarron 1874 AS200 delivers on all three fronts.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the effective range and hunting application for the 45-70 Government?

The 45-70 Government is a proven cartridge for big game hunting at moderate to extended ranges and is widely used for elk, moose, bear, and other large game. Its power and trajectory make it suitable for hunters who prefer a single powerful shot over rapid fire. Specific effective range depends on ammunition selection, shooter skill, and hunting conditions—ballistics and hunting regulations in your area should guide your use.

Can I mount a scope on the Cimarron 1874 AS200?

The rifle is equipped with adjustable ladder rear sights and a front dovetail blade, and these are its primary sighting system. We do not have information on whether the receiver accepts scope mounts; contact Cimarron directly or consult with a gunsmith if you wish to explore mounting options.

What is included with this rifle?

The product description specifies the rifle itself with its sights, stock, and finish. For details on any included accessories, documentation, or other items in the box, please contact us directly.

How does a falling-block action differ from other rifle actions?

A falling-block is a single-shot action where a breech block drops downward to load and eject cartridges. It's known for strength, simplicity, and inherent accuracy—there are fewer moving parts to affect shot placement. Falling-block rifles are popular among hunters and shooters who value precision and are comfortable with the deliberate pace of single-shot reloading.
