The Browning X-Bolt 2 Mountain Pro in 6.8 Western is a modern, lightweight big-game hunting rifle built for hunters who demand accuracy without the weight penalty. This bolt-action rifle combines a stainless steel receiver and barrel with a carbon fiber stock and wrap, creating a rig that's equally at home in the mountains or on a long pack-in. The Smoked Bronze Cerakote finish on the action and barrel resists corrosion while giving the rifle a purpose-built, tactical edge.
Browning's redesigned X-Bolt 2 receiver incorporates improved bolt guidance surfaces that smooth out the cycling, while the new spiral-fluted bolt with extended handle and ergonomic knob makes feeding and unloading fast and natural. The adjustable DLX Trigger is factory-set to hunting weights, giving you a crisp, predictable break out of the box. Barrel bedding at the recoil lug and action screws locks everything down for consistency, and the 60-degree bolt lift clears modern optics without forcing you to change your scope—or your shooting position. The X-Lock Scope Mounting System uses four screws per base for dependable attachment that won't shift.
The 24-inch stainless barrel is wrapped in carbon fiber and threaded 5/8-24 for sound suppression or muzzle device installation. A Recoil Hawg muzzle brake and thread protector come included, so you can shoot suppressed right away or swap optics as your hunt demands. The lightweight carbon fiber stock features a molded bedding block and bronze/gray graphics, paired with an Inflex Recoil Pad that soaks up the 6.8 Western's kick. A bolt unlock button works with the top-tang safety to add a safety layer during chamber checks and unloading.
If you're hunting elk, mule deer, or other big game where ounces matter and wind calls are long, the X-Bolt 2 Mountain Pro delivers accuracy and speed in a package you'll actually want to carry.

Frequently Asked Questions
What muzzle devices does the X-Bolt 2 Mountain Pro come with?
The rifle ships with a Recoil Hawg muzzle brake and thread protector, both of which are installed on the 5/8-24 threaded muzzle. You can swap the muzzle brake for a suppressor or other 5/8-24 device without any gunsmithing.
Is this rifle suitable for long-range hunting?
Yes. The 6.8 Western is a flat-shooting magnum designed for extended-range big-game hunting. The X-Bolt 2's bedded barrel, adjustable trigger, X-Lock scope mount system, and 60-degree bolt lift support long-range accuracy and quick follow-up shots. Pair it with quality glass and ammunition for best results.
What optics will fit without hitting the bolt handle?
The 60-degree bolt lift provides ample clearance for modern hunting and tactical optics. Most standard-ring scopes and low-mount systems will work without interference, but always check your specific scope's dimensions and mounting height before purchase.
Is the stock truly lightweight, and what's included?
Yes. The carbon fiber stock with compression-molded bedding block and carbon fiber-wrapped barrel significantly reduce weight compared to traditional wood or polymer stocks. The rifle comes ready to hunt with the Recoil Hawg muzzle brake, thread protector, and Inflex Recoil Pad installed.
