The Browning X-Bolt 2 Mountain Pro in .300 PRC is a purpose-built long-range hunting rifle that combines modern materials and ergonomic design in a platform trusted by serious hunters. This bolt-action rifle arrives ready for demanding backcountry work: the stainless steel action and barrel wear a Smoked Bronze Cerakote finish for corrosion resistance, while a lightweight carbon fiber stock keeps overall weight manageable without sacrificing rigidity. The 26-inch carbon fiber-wrapped barrel is threaded 5/8-24 and ships with a Recoil Hawg muzzle brake and thread protector, giving you flexibility to configure your setup.

The X-Bolt 2 platform delivers the refinements hunters asked for. A redesigned receiver includes expanded bolt guidance surfaces for smoother cycling, and the short 60-degree bolt lift clears large optics without awkward head movement. The new spiral-fluted bolt features an extended handle and reshaped knob for better glove control in cold conditions. Browning's adjustable DLX trigger comes set to hunting weights and breaks cleanly; the dual-stage top-tang safety is fast to manipulate, and a bolt unlock button adds an extra safety layer during chamber checks and unloading. The action is bedded at the recoil lug and screws to maximize accuracy potential while the barrel floats freely.

Stock and ergonomics matter on long hunts. The second-generation carbon fiber stock uses a compression-molded carbon fiber bedding block for stable, consistent support, with bronze and gray graphics that complement the Cerakote finish. An Inflex Recoil Pad helps manage the .300 PRC's energy. The X-Lock scope mounting system uses four screws per base—more attachment points than traditional two-screw systems—for rock-solid optic retention on rugged terrain.

Frequently Asked Questions

What comes in the box with the X-Bolt 2 Mountain Pro?

The rifle ships with a Recoil Hawg muzzle brake and thread protector already included. You'll need to source a scope, rings, and ammunition separately.

Is this rifle suitable for long-range hunting?

Yes. The .300 PRC chambering, 26-inch barrel, free-floated and bedded action, and adjustable trigger make it well-suited for extended-range applications. The X-Lock scope mounting system provides the rigidity needed for repeatable long-distance shooting.

What is the bolt lift angle, and why does it matter?

The bolt lift is 60 degrees, which is noticeably shorter than traditional 90-degree actions. This allows faster cycling and helps clear larger objective lenses on modern optics without forcing your head off the stock.

Can I remove the muzzle brake and use a suppressor instead?

The barrel is threaded 5/8-24, so yes—you can remove the included Recoil Hawg brake and thread a compatible suppressor or other muzzle device. A thread protector is included for when the muzzle is bare.
