The Browning A5 Lightning Sweet 16 is a 16-gauge autoloading shotgun built for hunters and clay shooters who want a nimble, refined gun without the recoil penalty of larger gauges. This semi-auto delivers reliable performance in a classic profile: a gloss black anodized receiver pairs with Turkish walnut furniture finished to a warm sheen, and the Lightning-style rounded grip stock gives it the kind of ergonomic, pointing feel that swings naturally to target. At 28 inches, the barrel is a versatile hunting and sporting length that balances weight and sight radius for varied game and clay presentations.
The stock is engineered for fit: a shim system lets you dial in length of pull, cast, and drop to your frame and shooting style, while 18 lines-per-inch checkering provides genuine grip security when your hands are wet or cold. A fiber-optic front sight and ivory mid-bead give you quick, reliable sight acquisition in variable light—essential when birds are moving or targets break unexpectedly. Three Invector-DS choke tubes ship with the gun, giving you the flexibility to tune patterns for different distances and game, from upland birds to clay courses.
This is a 2021 SHOT Show special edition that combines Browning's A5 inertia system—proven across millions of rounds—with understated, functional elegance. Whether you're working a dove field, stepping into clay sports, or hunting waterfowl in an open season, the Sweet 16 delivers the ballistics and handling of a trusted autoloader in a frame that feels lighter and shoots softer than its 12-gauge cousins.

Frequently Asked Questions
What choke tubes come with this shotgun?
The Browning A5 Lightning Sweet 16 includes three Invector-DS choke tubes. The receiver is threaded to accept additional Invector-DS tubes if you want to expand your pattern options for different hunting or clay scenarios.
Is the stock adjustable for different shooters?
Yes. The Turkish walnut stock features a shim system that allows you to adjust length of pull, cast, and drop to fit your frame and shooting style. This makes the gun more comfortable and accurate across different body types and personal preferences.
What is this gun good for?
The Sweet 16 excels at hunting upland game, waterfowl, and dove, and is equally at home on the clay course. The 28-inch barrel, moderate weight, and soft-shooting 16-gauge platform make it ideal for extended days afield or competitive sporting-clays courses where reduced recoil helps with follow-up shots and shooter endurance.
Does it have sights?
Yes. The gun features a fiber-optic front sight for quick, bright acquisition in variable light, and an ivory mid-bead for reference and alignment down the rib.
