The Browning A5 Hunter 20 Gauge is a recoil-operated autoloading shotgun built for hunters who want reliability without the weight penalty. This 20-gauge semi-auto handles hunting and clay sports equally well, thanks to Browning's kinematic drive system and a receiver designed around the smaller, lighter frame that 20-gauge shooters appreciate. The gloss-finished Turkish walnut stock and gloss black anodized receiver give it a traditional, refined look in the field—no tactical polymer or modern mall-ninja styling here.

What makes the A5 Hunter tick is Browning's approach to recoil management and ergonomics. The Inflex II recoil pad absorbs punishment, while the humpback receiver shape and balanced platform reduce muzzle climb and felt recoil. The ergonomic bolt latch and Speed Load Plus system mean faster follow-up shots and smoother operation under pressure. Checkering at 18 lines per inch gives you confidence in your grip, wet or dry. A fiber-optic front sight and ivory mid-bead help you pick up your target quickly in low light.

The 28-inch barrel comes threaded for Invector-DS choke tubes, and you get three in the box (Full, Modified, Improved Cylinder), so you're ready for everything from tight decoying to open-country hunting. Browning's back-bored barrel, vector-pro lengthened forcing cone, and nickel-Teflon coating mean the gun cycles steel shot reliably and cleans up without fuss. The stock includes shim adjustments for length of pull, cast, and drop—fit it to your frame, not the other way around. Two spacers are included so you can dial in the perfect fit.

This is a working shotgun with a five-year or 100,000-round guarantee backing it up. Whether you're hunting waterfowl, upland birds, or running clays on a Saturday morning, the A5 Hunter delivers without pretense or bloat.

Frequently Asked Questions

What choke tubes are included with the Browning A5 Hunter 20 Gauge?

Three Invector-DS choke tubes ship with the gun: Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder. This gives you coverage from tight patterns to open shooting without buying additional tubes.

Can I use steel shot in this shotgun?

Yes. The A5 Hunter's back-bored barrel, vector-pro lengthened forcing cone, and nickel-Teflon coating are all engineered for reliable steel shot performance.

Is the stock adjustable for different shooters?

Yes. The walnut stock features shim adjustments for length of pull, cast, and drop, and the gun includes 1/4 and 1/2 stock spacers so you can customize the fit to your frame.

What is the Inflex II recoil pad?

Browning's Inflex II recoil pad is designed to reduce felt recoil and absorb impact. It helps manage the gun's kick, making it more comfortable to shoot for extended sessions and during follow-up shots.
