The Browning 1911-380 is a compact, single-action autoloader built on the proven 1911 platform, scaled down to the accessible and manageable .380 ACP cartridge. This is a solid choice for shooters who want classic 1911 ergonomics and controls in a pistol that's easier to shoot than a micro-compact, yet still carries and handles like a genuine defensive or range gun. The 1911-380 pairs that iconic manual-safety, single-action trigger feel with modern materials and finishes—a stainless steel slide finished in durable Cerakote, a composite frame reinforced with a machined 7075 aluminum sub-frame, and carefully selected sights and controls that work for both right- and left-handed shooters.

You get the shooter-friendly features that make the 1911 an enduring design: a beavertail grip safety, extended ambidextrous thumb safety, and extended slide release for smooth, confident operation. The 3-5/8" barrel keeps the gun compact without sacrificing sight radius, and the steel 3-dot sights are a dependable, no-battery alternative for getting on target fast. The black stippled laminated wood grips with Browning's Buckmark logo add both tactile purchase and classic aesthetics. An eight-round magazine capacity is respectable for the caliber and frame size, and you get two of them in the box—plus a pistol rug to protect your investment.

Whether you're looking for a lighter recoil option for extended range sessions, a practical compact pistol for everyday carry or home defense, or simply want to experience the 1911 platform without the heavier .45 ACP kick, the Browning 1911-380 delivers proven reliability, intuitive handling, and that satisfying single-action trigger without compromise.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Browning 1911-380 good for concealed carry?

Yes. The compact frame and 3.63" barrel keep it slim and manageable, and the .380 ACP cartridge produces less recoil than larger calibers, making follow-up shots faster and easier. The extended thumb safety and beavertail grip safety are familiar controls for 1911 users and add confidence in a carry gun. Size and weight make it practical for everyday wear.

Can left-handed shooters use this pistol safely?

Yes. The extended ambidextrous thumb safety means both right- and left-handed shooters can operate the safety without shifting grip. The slide release is also extended, supporting natural operation for either hand.

What's included in the box?

The Browning 1911-380 comes with two 8-round magazines and a pistol rug for storage and transport.

How does .380 ACP compare to other handgun calibers?

The .380 ACP is a mild, controllable cartridge—less recoil than 9mm, .40 S&W, or .45 ACP, which means less fatigue during longer range sessions and faster target reacquisition. It's an approachable option for shooters sensitive to recoil or who want a lightweight, compact pistol without sacrificing reliability.
