The Browning 1911-380 is a modern take on the classic 1911 platform, scaled down to 85% size and chambered in 380 ACP—a smart choice for shooters who want 1911 ergonomics and controls in a more compact, manageable package. This isn't a stripped-down copy; it's a purposeful design that brings together heritage looks, functional reliability, and genuine shootability in a frame size that works for everyday carry, range time, or backup duty.

What sets this 1911-380 apart starts with the details. The maple medallion grips feature intricate checkering and a gold Buckmark accent—genuine craftsmanship that looks as good as it performs. The stainless steel slide combines brush-polished flats with contrasting black curves, creating a refined finish that's both classic and modern. Inside, you get ergonomic and skeletonized controls that respect the 1911 manual-of-arms while reducing weight where it matters.

The 380 ACP chambering keeps recoil mild without sacrificing practical stopping power, and the steel three-dot combat sights give you a fighting-accurate sight picture out of the box. The composite frame keeps weight down while maintaining the rigidity and feel that 1911 shooters expect. It's a genuinely useful gun for folks who appreciate 1911 design philosophy but need something that doesn't demand a shoulder holster or dedicated carry rig.

Browning backed this 2024 Shot Show Special with a pistol rug, so you're ready to take it home and put it to work immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a full-size 1911 or a compact?

The Browning 1911-380 is scaled to 85% of a standard 1911 size. It's larger than many pocket-carry pistols but smaller and lighter than a full-size 1911, making it a practical middle ground for shooters who want traditional 1911 ergonomics without the bulk.

What's the advantage of 380 ACP in a 1911-sized gun?

The 380 ACP cartridge produces significantly less recoil than 9mm or 45 ACP, which means faster follow-up shots, easier control, and less hand fatigue during extended range sessions. In a 1911 platform, you also get the manual safety, thumb safety, and manual-of-arms that make the gun intuitive to operate.

What sights come on the gun?

The 1911-380 ships with steel three-dot combat sights—fixed sights designed for quick sight picture acquisition and reliable aiming in daylight or low-light conditions.

What's included in the box?

Your purchase includes the pistol and a pistol rug for storage, transport, and basic protection.
