The Bergara Premier BPR26-65CM Canyon is a lightweight hunting rifle built on a modern platform that doesn't sacrifice capability for portability. Chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor with a 20-inch fluted barrel, this rifle delivers flat-shooting performance in a package you'll actually want to pack into the field. The carbon fiber stock keeps weight down without compromising rigidity, while Bergara's proprietary action and Spanish-made barrel—finished in Sniper Grey Cerakote—provide the precision and durability you'd expect from a much pricier custom gun.
This is a rifle for hunters who've learned that light recoil and light weight matter equally. The fluted No. 4 profile barrel is threaded 5/8-24 and topped with an Omni muzzle brake, which tames the recoil impulse of the 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge. That's not just comfort; it's better accuracy on the next shot when it counts. The TriggerTech Frictionless Release Technology trigger breaks clean and predictably, and the two-position safety integrates into the trigger assembly, letting you unload the rifle without leaving safe mode—a detail that separates thoughtful design from checkbox specs.
Bergara engineered the action as a two-lug system with a floating bolt head, non-rotating gas shield, and spring-loaded sliding plate extractor—the kind of architecture you'll find in rifles costing twice as much. The M5 floor plate accepts both AICS-style detachable magazines and an optional hinged floor plate, so you can set it up your way. At 6.2–6.5 lbs, the Canyon is genuinely packable; at 41 inches overall, it fits standard rifle bags and truck racks without fuss.
If you've been waiting for a 6.5 Creedmoor that feels like a rifle rather than a marketing category, the Premier Canyon is worth a serious look.
