The Winchester XPR Hunter in .270 WSM with True Timber Strata camo is a purpose-built rifle for serious hunters who want accuracy and reliability without paying premium dollars. This short-action bolt gun combines Winchester's proven engineering with a modern hunting-focused design—it's the kind of rifle that lets you focus on the hunt instead of your gear. The .270 WSM delivers serious power for medium to large game at distance, and Winchester's attention to the mechanical details means you get a rifle that shoots straight and runs dependably in the field.
Build quality starts with the steel receiver finished in Permacote FDE, drilled and tapped for scope rings—you're ready to mount glass right out of the box. The precision button-rifled barrel is free-floating for consistency, crowned with a recessed target design to protect accuracy. Winchester's M.O.A. Trigger system breaks clean and predictable, while the two-position thumb safety and bolt unlock button put you in control. The composite stock wears True Timber Strata camo, a pattern that blends naturally in varied terrain; sling swivel studs are already installed so you can get to work.
At 7 pounds, the XPR carries comfortably for a full day of glassing and stalking. The 24-inch barrel strikes a balance between velocity and maneuverability, with an overall length of 44 inches. The 13¾-inch length of pull fits most adult hunters off the shelf, and Inflex Technology in the recoil pad keeps shooting sessions comfortable. A 3-round magazine keeps weight down and profile trim, while the 10-inch twist rate is optimized for the .270 WSM's typical hunting loads.
This is a no-nonsense rifle for hunters who value function over fashion—you get reliable power, honest accuracy, and the Winchester name without compromise.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the .270 WSM and what game is it suited for?
The .270 WSM (Winchester Short Magnum) is a high-velocity cartridge that delivers substantial energy and range. It's well-regarded for medium to large game hunting where you need power and flat trajectory at distance.
Is this rifle ready to shoot out of the box?
The receiver is drilled and tapped for a scope mount, so you'll need to add rings and a riflescope to get behind it. Once you do, you're ready to zero and hunt.
What does the True Timber Strata camo pattern work best for?
True Timber Strata is designed to blend in mixed terrain—brush, timber, and open country. It's versatile across most North American hunting environments.
What is the length of pull, and will it fit me?
The stock has a length of pull of 13¾ inches, which is standard for most adult hunters. If you need adjustment beyond that, aftermarket stocks can be fitted to the short-action receiver.
