The Winchester SXP Buck Bird Combo is a 20-gauge over-under shotgun designed for hunters who want the versatility of two barrels in one gun. Whether you're working through brush for whitetail or swinging on upland birds, this dual-barrel system lets you match your shot selection to the game and terrain without breaking down your firearm. It's an efficient approach to hunting season—one gun, two missions.
The combo includes a 26-inch vented-rib field barrel fitted with the Invector-Plus choke system, giving you flexibility in shot pattern density, and a 22-inch fully rifled slug barrel topped with TruGlo rifle sights for accurate aiming at deer-sized targets. The smooth-bore field barrel wears a brass bead front sight for instinctive pointing. Both barrels chamber 3-inch shells, expanding your ammunition options, while the magazine holds 4 rounds of 2¾-inch shells. The aluminum-alloy receiver and rotary bolt keep weight reasonable at 6 lbs 12 oz—manageable for a day in the field without fatigue.
Winchester equipped this shotgun with practical features for hunters: Inflex recoil technology in the pad to soften felt kick, a synthetic stock that stands up to weather and brush, and sling swivel studs for carrying. Chrome plating inside the chamber and bore resists corrosion, and the matte-black finish and black-chrome bolt blend into hunting conditions. Dimensions are comfortable for most shooters—13.75-inch length of pull with 1.625 inches of drop at the comb and 2 inches at the heel—though fit matters; handle one if you can before committing.
This is a straightforward, no-nonsense shotgun built for hunters who value practicality and barrel swapping over bolt-action or semi-automatic complexity. If you hunt both upland game and deer in the same season, or want to learn shotgun shooting across different scenarios, the Buck Bird Combo offers real versatility without premium pricing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use this shotgun for both deer hunting and upland bird hunting?
Yes—that's the design. The 26-inch field barrel with Invector-Plus chokes works well for bird shot, and the 22-inch rifled slug barrel with TruGlo sights is built for deer. Swapping barrels is straightforward, so you can match your setup to your hunt.
What chokes come with the field barrel?
The field barrel is fitted with the Invector-Plus choke system, which accepts Invector-Plus chokes. Specific chokes included in the box are not listed in our specs; contact Winchester or our team for details on what's bundled.
Will this shotgun fit a shooter with a shorter frame or younger build?
The length of pull is 13.75 inches, which is a standard adult dimension. If you or someone in your household has a smaller frame, try handling one in person—fit matters for comfort and safety. Aftermarket stocks or spacers may be an option, but we'd recommend testing the factory setup first.
What's the magazine capacity, and what size shells does it hold?
The magazine holds 4 rounds of 2¾-inch shells. The shotgun also chambers 3-inch shells, so you have flexibility in ammunition choice depending on your game and load preference.
