The Winchester Wildcat 22 LR is a modern take on the classic rimfire autoloader—built for shooters who want something genuinely different from the usual suspects. Unlike traditional hammer-fired .22s, the Wildcat employs a striker-fired design similar to centerfire rifles, delivering a faster locktime, lighter trigger pull, and improved reliability with rimfire ammo. Finished in OD Green polymer, this 18-inch rifle combines rugged, lightweight construction with features usually reserved for centerfire platforms, making it an excellent choice for plinking, small-game hunting, rimfire competition, or introducing new shooters to semi-automatic rifle operation.
Field serviceability is baked into the Wildcat's DNA. The lower receiver assembly—containing the trigger group, reversible safety, and bolt—removes with a single push-button, giving you direct bore access from the chamber end for hassle-free cleaning. The upper receiver sports an integral Picatinny rail for mounting optics, while dual ambidextrous magazine releases and easy-reach bolt controls make the rifle equally at home in left or right hands. The rotary magazine design loads smoothly and locks the bolt back after the final round, and the Wildcat also accepts standard 10/22 aftermarket magazines, opening up magazine options and upgrades down the road.
Ergonomics matter on a rifle you'll actually shoot, and Winchester got the details right here. The polymer stock is molded in that practical OD Green finish, features front and rear sling eyelets for field carry, and includes ghost-ring rear and ramped post front sights out of the box. The steep grip angle keeps your finger naturally indexed to the trigger, and at roughly four pounds, the lightweight design won't wear you down during a full day afield or at the range. Modular spacers and cheek risers are available separately if you want to fine-tune fit or optics height—thoughtful design from a company with over a century of rimfire heritage.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I remove the lower receiver for cleaning?
Yes. The lower receiver assembly containing the trigger group and bolt is easily removed with a single push-button. Once removed, you can clean the bore directly from the chamber end, making field maintenance and deep cleaning straightforward.
Will the Wildcat accept 10/22 magazines?
The Wildcat comes with its own 10-round rotary magazine, but it is also compatible with standard 10/22 aftermarket magazines, giving you flexibility if you already own a 10/22 or want to swap in different magazine options.
What sights come with the Wildcat?
The Wildcat includes a ghost ring rear sight and a ramped post front sight, allowing you to shoot out of the box. The rifle also features an integrated Picatinny rail on top for mounting an optic if you prefer, or you can remove and adjust the iron sights using the included Allen wrenches.
Is the Wildcat ambidextrous?
Yes. The magazine releases are ambidextrous with side-mounted rails and a release tab, and the safety button and bolt controls are reversible, making the rifle comfortable for both left and right-handed shooters.
