The Winchester Wildcat is a rugged, fun-to-shoot .22 LR rimfire rifle built for plinking, small-game hunting, and introducing new shooters to semi-automatic rifles. This 18-inch barreled model pairs reliable Winchester engineering with practical tactical features and genuine field-day ergonomics—the kind of rifle that earns its place in your truck bed or cabin rack whether you're after rabbits or just burning through a brick of ammo on a Saturday afternoon.
The Wildcat's field-stripped design keeps maintenance simple. A single-button receiver release lets you separate the lower assembly in seconds for cleaning or transport, while the precision button-rifled barrel with recessed target crown delivers consistent accuracy for a .22. The semi-automatic action includes a reversible safety, slide lock, and bolt release button positioned intuitively for both right- and left-handed shooters. You get ghost ring and ramped post iron sights right out of the box—real working sights, not cheap afterthoughts—plus a pair of Allen wrenches for field adjustments.
Ergonomics and modularity set the Wildcat apart from basic rimfire plinking rifles. The molded polymer stock wears TrueTimber Strata camouflage and includes front and rear sling eyelets. An integral Picatinny rail tops the receiver for mounting optics or accessories, and a second Picatinny rail runs under the forearm with a cover included. The ambidextrous magazine release uses either side-mounted rails or a traditional release tab—smart design for lefties and righties alike. One 10-round rotary magazine ships with the rifle; the bolt-hold-open system on the 10th round is a welcome touch for safe, deliberate unloading. The Wildcat also accepts aftermarket 10/22 magazines, opening up affordable magazine options and extended-capacity configs if you go that route.
For hunters, sport shooters, and anyone serious about a dependable .22 semi-auto, the Winchester Wildcat balances proven reliability with modern usability features—no overpaying for tactical dressing, but no skimping on the details that matter in the field.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Winchester Wildcat good for hunting small game?
Yes. The .22 LR caliber and accurate barrel are solid choices for rabbit, squirrel, and other small game hunting. Ghost ring and ramped post iron sights work well for hunting ranges, and you can mount an optic via the top Picatinny rail for even better precision.
Can I use other magazines with the Wildcat, or am I stuck with the included rotary magazine?
The rifle comes with one 10-round rotary magazine and will also accept aftermarket 10/22 magazines, giving you flexibility in magazine choice and capacity if you wish to explore other options.
Is this rifle easy to field-strip and clean?
Yes. A single-button release on the lower receiver lets you separate it from the upper assembly quickly for cleaning and maintenance. Rear barrel access and the included pair of Allen wrenches make field adjustments straightforward.
Does the Wildcat work for left-handed shooters?
Yes. The reversible safety button and ambidextrous magazine release (with side-mounted rails or release tab) are designed to work for both right- and left-handed operators.
